Getting Better
In a recent thread there are many mentions to a repairer saying it is too expensive for us to handle repairs or that they don’t want to deal with it....
And these responses are coming from the manufacturer franchises of the base vehicle..?

With Motorhomes getting ever more complicated and expensive could this become a problem for the converters...?

The problem is finding a Fiat professional garage with ramps big enough to take MH,s, tag axles ones especially, most will do a PVC but they struggle to fit anything bigger as we have found out.
Then there is the problem of getting into the engine bay on an A Class, which is understandably more difficult to access that one with a standard cab front end.
Many on here have found themselves a garage that they now trust, and are happy to recommend them, the question is how lucky are you if that does not involve a longer drive from home.
We would have to drive 128 miles to our dealership, but now have found another Fiat workshop that does trucks et all, a bit closer in that its 27 miles from us.
How expensive?, not a clue as yet, still under warranty.

Ideally the motorhome manufacturer should have the facilities to do all the necessary work on any vehicle they sell (just like any car dealer ) and again ideally that should include facilities to work on the base vehicle..with mechanics and dealer level facilities..
Given thats unlikely to happen.. it would be nice to see more dealers with a much higher technical level of knowledge of the vehicles they sell... my limited experience has shown that to be sadly lacking.and when you consider the value of the goods they are selling thats shocking...
It's for the manufacturer and dealer to have a good standard of training of staff at the dealers.... but again given the manufacturer seems to be sadly lacking in knowledge of a lot of the equipment they fit into their vans theres not much chance of them passing any worthwhile training on to dealership employees....
You getting the picture im trying to paint of my views on the motorhome industry.??
Andy.

There are motorhome dealers who also have Fiat Professional workshops. My Mercedes based one is very capably looked after by a Mercedes commercial workshop. Many car workshops might struggle but the commercial vehicle ones shouldn’t have a problem.

Just an aside to this our Renault master ambulance is classed as Renault trucks so if needed would go to the Renault truck garage is there no corisponding fiat truck garage.

I have an excellent mechanic that I would trust with my life that does all my work on my pickup truck and car, but unfortunately the Hymer 754 tag is just too big to get into his workshop. I use a Fiat commercial main agent for work on the Hymer but unfortunately the family is running short on kidneys to sell now to pay there charges.

For the last 11years we have used Advance Automotive in Spyvee Street in Hull for both cars and our M/H as they have the facilities to do aclass, they will use genuine parts so your warranties should not be affected. There is a website, they are very dependable and reasonably priced.

I’ve recently started another thread asking for recommendations of garages in my area as my dash cam was left on, on a recent visit to my regular garage and when viewed I realised they didn’t respect my vehicle therefore me.. amongst other issues with them...

I once visited my local fiat garage commercial and it was a struggle for them to get it in and it’s only 6.4mx2.9... and they didn’t fix it..!

Living in the Highlands past Inverness limits the garages that can be used for our Hymer B544 rated at 4250kg. So we use a truck garage in Tain, they carry out any servicing and MOT's as their garage is big enough for 40 tonners and buses. They have carried a out a full service and I asked if they had any problems with access (being an A class), they said no worse than some lorries/buses.

This may be an idea for others if they can't find a decent garage to service the mohos.

Renault Trucks are not part of Renault the car maker any more. They were bought by the Volvo Group some years ago. That's the Volvo that doesn't make cars any more as they sold the car business - to pay for Renault's truck business.
