Dometic on a brand new Burstner van. I can't see anything on the screen. It's really bright like the sun is shining directly into it. Is there away of adjusting the brightness/contrast on the Screen (Pioneer) or something I can do to the camera to improve things?

They seem to be extremely poor especially for the money ! Changed mine after 2 years

You can adjust on a pioneer head unit but I found the radio I tried it on was not very good and all I could do was get the brightnes down but still unable to view anything clearly.🤔

I'm pretty happy with my £7 eBay camera. Seems you don't get what you pay for...

My one is crap too. I cant even find any adjustment.

Good job I fitted reversing sensors so much better

Ha, had the same conversation last week.
Looking at the sensors solution instead unless there’s a retrofit replacement.

I reverted back to my original Head Unit as I found it’s a better screen and the same cameras are really clear on it😊

Is it an expensive job to fit reversing sensors on m MH? Burstner on Ducato chassis.

I haven't looked but it must be easy with today's wireless systems. Sensor or 4 in the bumpers, receiver that beeps in the cab.

I think mine cost less than £200 to have fitted (wired) by people who fit them regularly.
Listening for a 'beep' means you can save your eyes for the mirrors rather than stare at a poor image.

Suffered a factory fitted Garmin Bluetooth reversing camera system for 3.5 years and decided to replace it as the image that came up on the Garmin SatNav unit was so poor! Decided on a Dometic systyem with twin cameras fitted by VanBitz of Taunton. What a difference! My wife no longer has to jump out of the MH - AutoSleeper Broadway FB - to guide me back... the Dometic camera is very much an 'extra pair of eyes' in such situations. Also great when driving! I can see all the traffic behind on the Dometic screen and in both wing nirrors! The Garmin only worked when in reverse gear! So glad that I've changed the system. Another excellent installation service carried out by VanBitz!

I also have a Dometic reversing camera fitted at VanBitz some years ago. The camera is integrated with the high level brake light unit (Ducato-based PVC) so neat and tidy. And no new holes in the bodywork required. :giggle:

There is a separate stand-alone monitor.

The image quality is generally good and does the job. The standard ones we have on our cars are slightly better, with guidance lines included.

But I wouldn't want to be without the one on the van. (y)

Good to hear that you are satisfied with the Dometic camera.

You are correct, VanBitz are superb at fitting such retro items! Cannot see any cables or extra holes at all! They fitted a Growler Alarm system for us when we purchased the van in 2017.

As it happens, this Dometic camera does have 'guidance lines' that's very useful.
