I've been following the online showrooms of a few dealers over the last year and their stock levels are definitley well up.

In the US the RV markets have abrubtly slowed and sales forecasts are looking like they will be at pre-pandemic levels. (which to be fair, is still very healthy) Prices are not reflecting that position yet though, but if dealers have full forecourts then prices will definitley drop.

IMO If you are thinking of selling your van, do it now, I think it was worth more yesterday than it will be tomorrow.

Is the buyers market returning? What do you think? Are you seeing more vans on forecourts in your area?

Have noticed not a lot shifting, follow the dealer who I got my van off in Germany and rarely did he have more than a few Morelos in stock, has 7-8 now and has had so for a few months!!

We get our new Wiensburg on Wednesday. 3 months earlier than told on ordering. Looks like supply is easing up.

Our local dealers yard seems full, but a lot may not be for sale, ie in for service, sold awaiting collection or even possibly storage.

With high prices of new vans which still appear to be rising in price and as a consequence high trade in prices being given I can't see much shift on prices happening.

The last year or so there have been no discounts on new vans but that has been offset by higher trade in prices. If stock is becoming available we may see discounts on new vans again but in turn the trade in price lower. The only advantage would be to buyers without a trade in.

I think second hand Euro6 vans will remain high and non compliant vans may suffer as more and more areas become ULEZ. New vans are so expensive now - ours £51.5k in 2017 now £83k in 2023 - bonkers money!

I am not sure that you will see prices coming down per se, but a sign of the markets slowing a bit would be some discounts coming back ;) I assume there have been no discounts to be had on Brit vans much like the Continental ones.

Getting Better
I still look every day at vans that were in my price when I was looking, there is a bit more selection coming on but the prices are still strong, I think people have bought high and are holding on to trying to get some of their money back…😎

I agree prices are still rising on new vans. The van we are getting this week if I ordered today I would be paying £9k more, before I put the extras on I wanted. That’s before I even get mine. The only advantage as you say is in trade in prices. We got what we paid for our Kingham 18 months ago, so only paid a price to change, not losing any money.

Certainly, hope so. Saw one Pilote the weekend advertised at £90k on the website, autotrader etc and checked yep thats the price. Shame they did not check their photos as it clearly was at £83k recently on the forecourt.

Another older Knaus been on the forecourt since being traded-in last May and they keep increasing the price a couple of grand a fortnight perhaps they think it's too cheap and that why no one is interested.

Can't see it happening until the supply of new vans improves. There are a load of us waiting for vehicles ordered in 2021 with no dates.I'm constantly looking at newish 2nd hand and MAN/Sprinters and prepared to pay more than my new order for a degree of certainty. This A class on order would be our last but 1 van.I'm now looking for any top spec large PVC's which would have been the 1 after.

We popped-in to Marquis, Tewkesbury, last Monday (just to look ;) ), and they were rammed full of new ‘vans, even in the overflow car park, with only 3 or 4 ‘used’ ‘vans on display. The ‘new’ prices were absolutely incredible, and not in a good way……..o_Oo_O

I'm staying in the non-buyer's market. And the non-seller's market. The cost to change is ludicrous.

Higher interest rates must have an impact on the finance cost of holding unsold stock. If there is no buying spree during Spring/Summer 2023, there will be big pressure on dealers to shift unsold stock in the autumn. They must make space for the 2024 quota that they have pre-ordered from / been allocated by the converters. Otherwise - goodbye franchise, hello bankruptcy.

With the requirements for vehicles to be electric by 2030 and a fit for purpose Motorhome yrs away I think vehicles will more than hold their value .

Swedish dealers seem to be well stocked up, but prices doesn't seem to reflect the change in availability, guessing at least a few will be forced to close unless they start reducing prices and customers return - new MHs are still more expensive than ever, comparing ours it more than 50% up since we ordered, madness!

we’ve had our Bailey for ten years this March and I’m on the lookout for a new van ( I’ve been looking at a wide range , from iH to Coachman ) .
We have a nice lump sum coming up that with part ex should make a big purchase pain free .
On the other hand our Bailey is superb ( well loved with no expense spared on making it our apartment on wheels ) and the thought of entering the buying dance doesn’t fill me with much joy .
I’m going to go to Spinney on Wednesday for a reccy so will report back re stock and prices .

I watch a lot of you tube, and more recently motorhome, seller sites. From what i can see, new vans across the board very expensive, large preowned family 6 bed, berth, vehicles likely to take a price hit. Two to 4 berth and pvc vans to remain steady on current prices possibly rise a bit. Volkswagen t range always pricey and too many on market, dealers anticipated price drop. Again market generally buoyant, the one site i looked at say they moved 10 vans in january, didnt appear to having a problem getting vans, as all their sales were part exchange. Most of the prices for 2 to 4 berth and pvc vans from about 2018 onwards around 47000. Only spotted a 2010 , dont know which make of model, it was at 37000. General view again, was that the pvc sales were good, mainly due to duality ability as an everyday and holiday van. This has been the case anyway since i joined fun in 2013. I guess we will see, when the first motorhome shows open up this year, what prices and availability are like.

One large multi-franchise southwest dealer reduced the price of all their used stock about three months ago. Talked about an over supply of VW T6 type campers. Demand for Ducato type campervans remain strong but he says that an awful lot of vans have been sold twice or more by the time they arrive because customers can't wait any longer or the price has gone up too high. A few more than usual cancelled sales of used vehicles mainly due to house sale falling through.

Most shows the last coupleof years have hardly had any vans for sale, lots of small vdub size campers with a rising roof. Will be nice to see a few vans turn up.

I can confirm that the market for VW T6 is saturated: had difficulty in shifting ours for a sensible price when looking to upgrade. Dealers weren't interested and went private in then end - somebody got a good deal. Don't understand how some dealers are advertising 2-3 year old T6s for £50-60K.

Lots but slow learner.
Looking again last night.
I see most Bailey 79s have peaked at circa £85k new.
Personally i see them going only one way now and it's not up.
Prices won't crash until we are ready to sell ours.

Not convinced it is worth paying extra for Euro 6 to avoid LEZ problems, in a couple of years they will have come up with Euro 7 so you still can't go to Baltic Wharf.

Six months in, anything new? Here's an interesting reality check about the state of the market from the Motorhome Matt Podcast.
Starts at 6:00. Looking at what's happening in France and Germany, I'd say we are six months behind them.
