This degradation of the headlining is around the skylight handle, and also the skylight itself.

My first thought was wear caused by abrasion as the handle is turned, but that does not explain the same condition around the skylight; also however the handle is turned there is no contact with hand or wrist.

My second thought was sunlight degradation, but the van is stored under a cover in a dark barn, and probably only sees the sun for a maximum of 100 days, and not intense sun as in Spain or southern France.

So is some little varmint using the headlining for sustenance?

Thoughts welcome on - 1. What it is. 2. How to stop it. 3. Repair/tidying it up.

Thank you.

Presuming it is Faux leather..

1.... Faux leather goes like that, especially near to fresh air and sun..

2.... Leather polish will help....

3.... As above No 2...
