Is my reasoning unreasonable? (consideration of others)

I never close the blinds on my motorhome. To me the whole point of being in one is being able to be close to nature, seeing the sun go down and come up again.

Im on a really busy site (been here over a month, no worries in terms of security, site is well lit, security barriers and all the wardens apparently live on site). But a couple of days ago a couple arrived and seem to like having their hab door light on for no apparent (to me) reason?
Ive never seen one so bright, and its on from around midday right through to the following morning (never with any sign of them being outside to use it).

Its so bright in my bedroom its like sleeping under stadium flood lights.
Yes, i could close the windscreen blinds and re-open them every morning, but why would you put the light on if youre not using it (going outside)?
When i let my dogs out at night, I switch mine on, and turn it off once theyre done, ITS BRIGHT! (I assume) No one else wants to see that.

Im guessing they are here for New Year.
Do I:
A. Introduce myself, have a friendly chat and casually mention how god damn bright their light is at night.
B. Start closing myself in at night by shutting all blinds.
C. Harry Black over their light when they are asleep and claim to know nothing! :D

I am posting in jest, Im sure they are lovely, but if its on for security reasons, god help them if they ever try to go off-grid.

Maybe they're scared of the dark if having to make night time loo trips. I got really really lost once trying to find our van in the dark. It was horrible. Wet and cold too.

I've often seen m/h and caravan outside/awning lights left on all night. I assume that the occupiers just don't realise that the light is on after they've closed the blinds and have turned it off when I've occasionally knocked to tell them.

Maybe you could ask them about it. If they're rude and/or cold shoulder you afterwards it's not much loss to you. People are often more reasonable than we think they will be.

I kind of hoped that was the case the first night (as they had just set up), but then it came on again this morning immediately around 11am. Ah well, as others have said. Apparently its up to me to close the blinds. Really not a 'biggy', but people do baffle me.

would it also be ok for me to sit here in mine with my headlights on main beam?
Well you could try that……but then your engine will cause a bigger disturbance, it’s probably easier to just shut your blinds.

Thank them for being eco friendly by illuminating the inside of your van and saving you having to🤪
Janine, you make me laugh :xrofl:

I did like the sound of option C, unacceptable though it is………

now that would be irony, if they came over ask why im running my engine for no apparent reason :D
(also I was surprised to discover that you need the engine on in order to have the headlights on, any one know why thats the case with MH'S and not cars?!)

Although I tend not to have my blinds undrawn because no-one walks around these days with striped vest and a bag with 'swag' written on it and I think 'why should I make it easy for, even the small number that might be of this persuasion BUT when I have been parked next to someone with an over bright light, as I've, probably already said 'Hello' to them, I find its very easy to bring the subject up in conversation the next day!
Most don't realise it's a problem!

IF they refuse, then plan 'C' is brought into action. (being big and ugly helps in these situations  )

If its annoying you then option B. They probably aren't annoyed by it if they close their blinds. Or you could casually mention it to them, they might not be aware they are turning it on if switch is near others at door and perhaps they havent long had it.

Still seems unnecessary and unreasonable to me. Its 6pm and it will be on until morning. I just dont understand what it is achieving.

stop getting stressed, go and have a chat for God's sake! xroll:

Maybe they don't know what the switch is for and if they do whether down is off or on.
Personally I would advise them that they are leaving the light in all night and that it is very bright.
they clearly know where the switch is, arriving with it off, religiously turning it off in the morning and putting it back on at midday.
Im rather disappointed at the lack of option C votes though lol! :D

You can't expect too much, their 'tuggers' :xrofl: (or they don't like your use of Latin in your profile)

as someone who spends most of his time off-grid, the idea of leaving a light on for people in stripy swag jumpers to better be able to see what they are doing to my locks doesnt appeal (less desirable are rarely bothered now-a-days about being seen). Its also another reason why i never close any blinds. I like to be able to see if anyone is outside and be able to react (as I have done) accordingly.
