Hi Brian. Have just been thinking when I bought my first motorhome, well it was a camper really. A Standard Atlas Devon conversion. It was over 40 years ago, so I would be in my 20s then. Have had a few breaks over the years but have always returned after a couple of years.

I dont think its age related, more earnings related. Additionally young generations tend to link motorhomes with gypsies instead of a cheaper form of holiday. Also younger generations are happy to tent

44 & 46. Say our thanks every day for our good fortune.
Worked bloody hard for it and going to enjoy it.
Enjoy all the "oldies" I mean "experienced motorhomers" saying "if only we could have done this 20 years ago"

Look forward, not back.

I bought my first camper van at 38, having tented in some shape or form since I was 16. We're now both 55 and still not old enough to know better.

Both of us 50.... But i do think its earnings/Money related, when i first met Mrs T 27 years ago we always talked about having a campervan and hitting the road/Being free to go where ever, but the kids came along and we never had the chance after that to be able to live the dream, all our money was spent on the home, its only now we are better off financially - but we would have been doing this 27 years ago if funds allowed us to

Virtually the same here. Still just in our 40's. Worked full time, (and still doing so, alas), educated our 3 offspring and with just one officially left at home (other 2 keep coming back, but put them on house sitting duty whilst we go away) we have a little bit more money, but also more personal time to please ourselves as not tied down by so many children activities at the weekend. Just 2 school terms to go. We are off on our first ski trip February half term in 25 years thanks to the motorhome as it is now a financially viable -(even in 1/2 term). Previously family of 5 with flights/chalets and passes was completely out of the question before.
So in long rambling way it's an age/ finance /time available thing

We are both the wrong side of 45,

Think it may also be age related due to the driving licence restrictions, anyone under 34 (or passed their test after 1997) has some major restrictions on the vehicles they can drive or tow without taking further tests,

So although disposable income is a big factor there may be less and less youngsters with families motorhoming due to the layout of campers they can drive.
