Is it worth joining a motorhome club for cheaper site rates

We’re members of both. For us the cost of membership is worth paying for the odd time we want to use one of the sites. One doesn’t need to have many nights on either of the clubs sites to get ones money back.

if you join a club you may feel committed to using their services. But you can do everything without, and feel less restricted.
I suggest you wait until you find yourself wanting to use one of their sites. You should then have a better idea of the value of that membership. Some sites can be attended as a non-member, so it's a simple matter of arithmetic to see if it's cheaper to join before you go.

Neither Club sites are particularly cheap unless you want to use the CLs or CSs (small 5 outfit sites usually with very little facilities) If you don't want the latter then shopping around will find you much cheaper sites except for possibly in the peak season.

Like most things, if you join a club you have to use it. We use CAMC mainly for CLs but other things as well. Their insurance is very good and reasonable at prices.

If it’s cheaper you want can you afford to join a club, may be better looking on the net for offers from private sites.

If you are solo the club sites are often cheaper than private sites as they charge per person, with 2 people the club sites are often dearer than private sites. For a solo the club site price is often lower than a CL/CS which will be charging for all occupants.

You can search on both clubs' and commercial sites' websites to find locations and prices but can't book club sites unless a member.

It all depends on the quality of the sites you use. We use a mix of club and commercial sites, last year just about 50/50 along with a few CL/CSs and the average we paid per night was just over £21 up from £17 for the previous year. Prices are already looking higher for this year.

depends how much spare income you have, If you can afford it and you spend lots of time out and about join both, they do come in handy for quick stops especially CLs, though Im finding lots of CLs accept you anyway.
In which case Searchforsites is a great tool for seeing where places are, they contain CLs, clubs, pub stops, and private sites, plus wild parking. Possibly even better value than the clubs.

Another one you need is park4night

We are in both clubs and use mainly CL/ CS rallies and Temporary Holiday sites. We had 79 rights away, average cost for all of these worked out at £8.62 per night.

It’s best to decide what you want. Club houses, hot showers and heated toilets, or a farm field with just a tap and waste empty point. Cheap means something has to go

We mostly use CMC sites. We know what to expect and we are prepared to pay for it. Sites are clean and well-maintained usually.

That's not to say we don't use privately owned sites too, we do, but tend not to use CL's as we like our conveniences. (Cue all those who will now post "but you have your own loo in the van etc" (y)

I'm a member of C&CC &CAMC although I hardly ever use CAMC sites, preferring CLs. I thought I had done reasonably well with 62 nights at £13.12. Must do more wilding.

We are members of both, but as members of the camping&caravanning club, we get to use cheap 5 van CLs and THS temporary holiday sites, which are large organised rallies all over the country in interesting places. But THSs are a fraction the cost of sites as you use your own facilities usually. Some are adjacent to sites with use of their showers though. If you want to join and get an extra benefit (varies from discount to a gift, not sure this year) then PM me and I will supply my membership details as a referral

We are members of both sites but also use other commercial sites. We choose an area where we want to stay and then look for the nearest site that suits us. Our only parameters are a pub and village within cycling distance.

Don't think anyone mentioned but remember the CCC offer auld fuds (over 65) rates on some sites and nights.. only however main sites and not CL's or THS's
Edit.... Sorry you only need to be 60 to qualify as an "Auld Fud'
