Just looking
I was wondering if it was possible to have me insured as the main driver and my daughter who is 22 insured as the second driver or potentially for small periods of time as the second driver?

Does anyone have any experience with this? thanks!!!!

When I insured with the c&mc last year I asked how much it was for Miss 2x2, who is 25, to be added to my policy, it took the price from £250 to £550

I added my son once when he was 22....with Safegard....about an extra £170 but I think that was halfway through the policy so probably a bit more for the whole year but it’s certainly possible...that was in a Hymer B544...GVW 3500 Kg....

If under 3.5t then:
Under 21, the insurance companies wont touch them.
Under 25, the insurance companies will usually accept, as long as they have held a full licence for over 2 yrs.

Over 3.5t then:
She will need to take the additional test, which from memory you can't do within the first year of getting a full licence.

18 year olds drive HGVs nowadays, so I reckon the MH insurance companies are wussies.

To pass the 4 tests needed to drive an HGV by the time you were 18 would be an impressive feat !
I'm sure some have, probably bought up on a farm.

However getting insurance to drive an HGV at 18, my guess is the NFU would be the only insurance company that would not laugh at you.

Getting commercial insurance over 70 years old is equally impossible.
A mate of mine has been forced into retirement despite passing all the medicals with flying colours (ex Marines) as no one will insure him

I was driving 7 tonners by the time I was 21, and that was in the early 80's
Even then I was by far the youngest person in my circle.
