This might be a bit of a ‘me only’ wierd one…

As soon as we get into the MoHo to go away, I want to eat!
My good lady now makes sandwiches ‘for the road’ and I have to stop myself from asking for one 5mins from the off.

Admittedly, for a week-end we usually start around lunch-time on a Friday but wtf?
I’m sure most people carry ‘sweeties’ for the journey (don’t they?) but this seems to be almost an obsession

A couple of weeks ago we went away fairly local for the week-end and my wife didn’t make sandwiches
”I didn’t bother because it’s only an hour or so” she says…

I nearly killed her!

If it wasn’t for my good lady being tolerant of my outburst we would have had a really bad ‘domestic’

Please say it’s not only me - or do I need councelling?

Andy

We have a bag of boiled sweets which are referred to as the travel sweets. We only eat them on the move when either I've lost the will to live because of stupid drivers or I feel I need a energy boost. Our current selection are Everton mints mmmmmm.

Used to do it but stopped now, very dangerous, 'travel sweets'.

Get a dog! Our four would NEVER let’s us eat whilst travelling - there’d be drool all over the ‘van!! o_O o_O ;)

It's the only time that I eat Pringles, when it's past meal time and I'm still driving. Jakemans menthol sweets clear my nasal passages when it's getting hot and stuffy.

I used to be just like that! Going on an adventure, as soon as I used to get on a coach or boat, I had to break out the sandwiches.

Not so much nowadays when I am doing the driving.

Hi.
Early starts in the morning 03.00 hrs and on. Had to put my Sandwich box on the passenger seat of the cab where i could not reach it while driving in the end. Say 03.00hrs start...By 04.00hrs i had eaten the box full for the day.... Beware " Malt Loaf " Starving one day because of this and not going to survive without food till i got home,i stopped at a litlle shop and saw a Malt Loaf, bought it,love them...... Funny how your tastes change,by the time i had eaten the last mouthfull of Butterless Malt Loaf i had decided that i would never eat it again. So, the moral of this story is. Cobra. Buy and eat a Malt Loaf WITHOUT BUTTER !! before you leave home, sorted :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: 🚛

Well being of a certain age, its not eat that I want,--------Pee now, thats a different matter download.png

Depends on time of day. If I've had my breakfast I'm OK during the day but any overnight driving and hunger strikes. Swmbo hates travelling at night so not a problem now but in my younger (under 50) days I always used to set off on holiday at night so as to get a cheaper channel crossing.

The ‘Director of Navigation’ needs a goodly supply of nibbles, I just want a beer to help me set up when we’ve arrived

By the time I have turned gas 'On', put out chairs there is a beer being handed out of the door - or else!

Not for me but as a child used to go in the lorry with my dad, had eaten my 'piece' by the time we hit the golf course 1.5 miles and dad's by the time we hit Glasgow about 20 miles, then while he was loading up cattle feed one of the workers would go to the local dairy for bacon rolls and fresh milk and sweeties for me. I was quite a skinny child at that time. Fell queasy thinking about the amount i ate.
Do like to stop for a drink though even if it just water.

Got a car show tomorrow, everyone in place by 9am and it’s about an hours drive away
So no nibbles, no brekky till I get there
Mind you there’s a Sainsbugs near where I park up and they have a decent cafe

No sandwiches for us but it’s a tradition to have a packet of soft mints on the go.

Stems back to family holidays when we would split the journey (mentally) into stages. Stage 1 - home to motorway. Stage 2 after lunch stop, Stage 3 leaving motorway etc, etc. Would always announce ‘entering Stage 2/3/4 and mark the boundary with a soft mint.
Mad or what? 😂

Snap, SWMBO does our on the road snacks, can be anything from sausage rolls, to cakes to sweets ;-)

Adele surprised me the last trip when we stopped at a shop for milk and came out with 2 Yorkie bars.

Hubby is always wanting to eat when we set off, it doesn't usually take long before he's after a Werthers! :giggle:

Our daughter buys me the round tins of boiled sweets for van travels. The latest ones were not as good as usual because the lemon ones make my eyes water.

Quite the opposite! I need my coffee - just like any other day - but I don't want to eat at all before or during a drive - unless it's essential calories! That being said, I don't eat anything in the morning anyway, but the MH actively makes me not want to eat - it's old and wandery so I want my concentration.
My passengers can certainly eat - oh yes! An entire pint of milk, block of cheddar and half a loaf of bread before we get there! When we park up, I reserve the right to at least 2 small cans of cold beer!!

On a morning start to journey we cannot eat breakfast before we move off, so Thermos mug of tea and a BLT (made the night before) is ready for when we are hungry which is usually about 15mins after setting off and on a straight bit of motorway . Then it’s great to get seconds when you pick the crumbs on your seat 🤭🤭
