No where else for this as Ireland is certainly NOT in the UK and seems a lot more continental in outlook.

We have been here in Donegal for almost 2 weeks now and are loving it. The weather has been superb, the welcome warm and the little aires and other stops have given a couple of newbies a great introduction to this MoHo way of living.

We have spent a lot of nights on the pier at Magherarorty where there is a service point, stunning views over the bay and an excellent cafe serving huge meals at very reasonable cost. After our supper there tonight , too tired to cook after a day surfing , we were given cakes to take back with us. Lovely.

Not to mention great surf - the main reason for our trip.

Never been to Ireland but my wife went to Eire with her ex husband.
She could only describe it as a magical place.
So welcoming and helpful but the infrastructure is a bit 19th century compared to the North... Many, many single track roads, old fashioned sleepy villages etc.

I love Ireland and hope to get the motorhome over there one day.
Which crossing did you use and how did you find it ?

We used Cairnryan to Larne booked through the excellent Nutt Travel.
The P&O ferries are ancient heaps that I think used to be truck only from Ardrossan.
The Belfast ferries are more modern but rammed with TVs which you can’t escape from - they even have screens in the bogs...
Food on both is awful but it’s a short crossing.

No idea about ferries from down in englandshire but know there are several options including over night.

I remember getting sunburnt in Ireland in September. The chemist had to get the sunscreen out from the backroom -- they'd packed it away for the Autumn. The locals kept telling us we were very lucky with the weather, but being west of the UK it must surely be warmer than here on the UK east coast due to the Atlantic drift, albeit wetter?

Holyhead ferry to Dublin is a 3 hour crossing or drive to Cairnryan ... 2hours and a bit in the ferry and you’ll be in Belfast. Have been on the latter often (modern stena line) and have never had awful food! Coffee could be stronger though! Some lovely sites here in the north. Drive 45 miles on an excellent road from Belfast (passing a great shopping outlet if you or yours needs some retail therapy) and you’ll be in the south of Ireland or approximately 2 hours driving west will take you to Donegal from Belfast. No border stopping as yet! You’ll get a lovely welcome north or south :)
