Where are the laybyes? We drove some of the WAW a couple of years ago and were surprised at the lack of simple laybyes. Lots of solid yellow lines and room for emergency stop but very few places to pull over for a break. We resorted to stopping in supermarket car parks.

The WAW has lots of viewing point carparks, marked by their own sign, WAW spelt vertically. We stayed overnight on several of those - not sure if it's "allowed" or not but nobody bothered us.

Get a big umbrella and some good waterproof gear.

Actually Ireland is great in a Motorhome, wild camping accepted virtually anywhere, people very friendly, when you drive through villages you have to wind the window down and say hello to everyone.
Water very easy to get, taps on all the fishermen's piers, getting rid of rubbish can be a bit of a challenge. Food & eating out very expensive.
Interested to read this. Weā€™ve just started researching for our Motorhoming holiday in Southern Ireland, and there were lots of negative views especially on the question of wild camping. However, it sounds as though youā€™ve had a much better experience.

Was a few years ago about 10 years ago but I don't think it's changed that much. Plenty of out of the way places where no one lives.

A trip which I must do at some point to specifically visit Downpatrick, Co. Down where my fatherā€™s family was evacuated to (from Gibraltar via London) in 1944.
