Ireland Ferry

Are you taking a dog? If so Stranraer or Cairnryan as no AHC required

I always go from Cairnryan as its the same distance for us from Holyhead ( and cheaper) But as you are venturing down the A5(55) have you looked at a Liverpool crossing?

Have used both last year. For what its worth if you are getting the priority boarding and Lounge package , Stenas is better, better free snacks etc. I found boarding with Stena a little easier. Priority exit on return trip is more important. You don’t want to be in the middle of a HGV column exiting the port and Holyhead. A bit slow.

Holyhead Dublin, Stena every time, nicer ferry than Irish Ferries, better experience.

Always use Stena Liverpool (it goes from Birkenhead easy access) to Belfast, then park up at Carrickfergus 1/2 hour away.
We use the Stena lounge as it's good value.

Do you need tapeworm done for travel from Holyhead to Dublin?

Yes you do. Same rules as coming back to the UK from Europe. Tapeworm treatment 1 - 5 days before journey. Plus AHC if no Euro dog passports

I guess if you go via Dublin your stay counts within your 90 days and if you go via Cairnryan it doesn’t. We’d struggle to use our 90 days just now but may be important for others.

Anyone know what the rough cost of this is, ie the tapeworm treatment?

Don't think the Republic counts as it's common travel area. EDIT to add: you don't even need a passport.
