having been inspired by the Irish ferry thread, has anyone been freshwater fishing with the Motorhome..?

Now in the 80-90’s I use to go match fishing over there mainly in the north, pleasure fished the Shannon and loch Ree but all these times they were in digs/lodges ...

Having had a look at google maps there seems to be loads of places to park up by some river/lake...

Has anyone had any trouble wildcamping or parking up overnight.?

Any info much appreciated...(y)

Garry the waterways allow motorhomes to park in the marina free, and you buy a card from lock keepers that allows you to use the facilities at the marina including washing machines showers toilet water and dump. (y) Bob.

I did suspect that Bob, as lots of marinas I looked at had Motorhomes parked up, not unlike France. If the facilities are there it makes sense....

When you were over there were people parking up for the night out of the way so to speak..?

Don't do fishing but wild camping is the norm in Ireland, even if there is a sign saying no camping the locals will tell you to park in front of the sign as it's only to stop the travelers.

We went in June had great weather, yes park anywhere, some car parks have height barrier but we just parked outside on the road, the Irish are very friendly we had them telling us where to park, and if a no camping sign was there, paddy would un bolt it, and there is no sign, they think nothing about walking in a campsite with their cassette, it's easy to get water but a lot of it has a green colour, so we drank bottled water. Now, has anyone done any fishing...?

Roscarberry lagoon. Park next to it, float fish bread and if your lucky get the fight of your life from a huge mullet.

Hey! Gary @Just smiffy don't know if you've solved your Sheepskin dilemma but popped into the "Factory Shop " at Scorrier and they had a "Faux" Sheepskin for £20, that looked as though it might , that's might, give you the feel of the real thing.

just saying
