Hi all, currently locked down self isolating in France fully compliant will all the rules and regs at our cottage.

have a iPad Pro software up to date. Have a Huawei mifi, had this for a couple of years all fine. Can watch movies via fire stick fine using mobile phone browsing fine but iPad really slow on WiFi, but good on cellular. Tried reset checked mifi is up to date found many people seem to have a similar problem. Have reset network settings hard and soft resets but nothing seems to improve it.

by slow are you talking about performance on the Internet or the overall running of the pro

What sim are you using? I find when in Spain during winter we use a three internet with legs sim and it works but not particularly fast. At home on our Vodafone broadband WiFi it’s lightening fast.

Have you tried "Renew Lease" and if that doesn't work "Forget this network" in the wifi settings on the Ipad? Reboot the ipad after forgetting the mifi wifi before you log back on to the mifi. It's a long shot but sometimes works.

Have you tried undoing your cookies?

Have you clicked twice quickly on the home button and cleared all the open screens, that seems to speed mine up so ai do it each evening.

Just clicked the home button twice as suggested, shock horror could not belive how many screens came up. Have cleared them all will see how it goes. To reply to earlier posts I am using a Vodafone sim 50 gb a month. Have been using it in the mifi for around twelve months now until recently all was well. It functions well using my fire stick on the low data setting to keep usage of data down, and WiFi use on our i phones and older I pad is fine. It only seems to affect my iPad Pro, looking on an iPad forum it seems many have this or similar Issues. Many thanks for your replies. Stay Safe.

Ours have been slow lately but think that is down to Internet.
Yes you should 'housekeep' your iPad and any other tech you have, keep them up to date and clear of 'rubbish'!
Occasionally turn the iPad right off, hold top button until screen is black wait a min or so and turn back on via top button.

That’s mostly an historical idea.
Double home tap is used to access multitasking.
Apple changed the operating system to save having to use that double tap to manage apps hogging resources.
Now the main use of the double home press is needed to get rid of a frozen app.

apple could make it easier to find an app that is hogging resources. 👍🏻

The main change is the addition of Background App Refresh controls.
If you don’t use that setting area maybe you do still have to defeat the purpose of it being easy to go back to an app. Ymmv

It is worth a power off and back on - but mainly with an almost full lock up 🤔

Blimey, it's a little sad that I remember Background App Refresh controls coming onto the iPhone and it being around 2015 :o :(

Have you tried contacting Apple support

My Ipad Pro is slow too, but I have been blaming our wifi

Need to remember passwords if you do that don’t you?
Not too likely on an iPad. Apple uses a separate key chain for storing passwords. Look for AutoFill Passwords in settings. Can be a surprise peeping in that list :)
But that Apple Autofill Passwords utility could be working along side cookies to duplicate the save.
If the OP does save passwords for sites, it'll likely be the AutoFill popup he's used.
If they avoid saving passwords then they'd be declining the AutoFill popup save.
lol
tl;dr on an iPad/iPhone the cookies are typically separate from password saving.

It is different on a laptop or desktop. Then there is likely to be lost webpage settings like passwords lost if cookies are cleared.

Have you tried going into your router and changing some settings..? There are different channels you can use, 2.4gh for distance or 5gh if your closer to the router...
I have some of my devices on the 2.4gh because there upstairs and my iPad, fire stick and phone on the 5gh because I’m closer to the router downstairs...

I will try that thanks. Actually my wife will try that because I don't touch complicated techy stuff(y)

Can you post an idiots guide please.

If your interweb is slow over WiFi, there are apps to let you see cluttered WiFi channel contention - maps use of channel frequencies so you can identify and select a less cluttered channel in router settings. If only I could remember the name of the one I used a few years ago...

I'd speedcheck the wifi first - ideally use iPad and another receiver [iPhone or whatever] to verify where the issue is

<Broken link removed> outfit say WirelessNetView is free.
What you need, ideally, is a 3 channel gap {either side} to sit your chosen frequencies in.
Historically this is a 2.4GHz problem but now 5GHz is more common...

NB: I haven't tried a wifi scanner app recently. My old router has a built in wifi scanner - but now that's turned off/obsolete & replaced.
So I look forward to reading how you lot get on...

How do you actually clear them?
thanks
Its related to an old problem that Apple added fixes/improvements for: #9

But still useful for an unresponsive app.
With the iPhone/iPad unlocked, after double tapping the home key you get a scrollable view of current & recently used apps.
Select one with a finger, and then flick it up and off the screen.

Over 6 years ago, Apple thought it was rubbish that users could have apps still running in the background hogging resources; so, in brief, they made apps stop running if they were closed.

But, realising that there are scenarios where a user could want background activity, they got app developers to incorporate a new "Background App Refresh" feature.
App developers using that can keep their apps running in the background but the users are prompted to accept or block that behaviour - usually when the app is first ran.
Or from the "Background App Refresh" settings area.

tl;dr
The closing of apps via the double home tap is now redundant ;)
('cept for a frozen/locked app)
Of course, you also need to of adopted the "Background App Refresh" management.

After you have clicked home button twice you should see all the open screens just swipe each in turn up the screen and that clears each one, if you haven’t done it before there may be loads 🤗
