I hope it happens. The island would make a lot of money from such a race meeting.

This could be a great event, don’t think I will go to the first one though, I’d like to see how successful it is first.

It might be cheaper to get to then the IOM
Depends on the IOW ferries, I think they already ripp people off as it is, ask Jock&Rita. If they can jump on the bandwagon they surely will. If it’s anything like the Isle of Man prices for everything will double.

Unless there has been a change in legislation, the use of Public Roads in England has not been permitted since 1905, hence the Irish Road races and the TT in the I.O.M. I have seen the proposed course and imagine it would be a leglestive nightmare also given the fact that the I O W population is made up of vast number of retirees and some alternative routes are very narrow the use of closed roads is not feasible, I think its probably a publicity stunt by the tourist board to get visitors over, can't see it happening

They will need to hire a helicopter to ferry accident victims to Hospital. There isn't a fully functioning A&E hospital on the Island

Great idea, that Military Road is a great biking road in it's own right.

Private road with public access allowed to the park
Aberdare in Wales is also private road/parkland and most hill climbs and sprints are on private or council owned land

The uk law changed in April 2017 - it is now possible to organise racing on public roads

It would be great if it happens. For many years I've joined a thousand bikers there for the 'Wight Lightning' camping festival. Jolly good craic.

Yes have heard it’s the dearest strip of water to cross per mile
I took the 6m m/h over three weeks ago. Red Funnel ferry Soton - Cowes £198 return. It's a 13 miles sail with 8 of them being the trip downriver from Soton quay to Soton harbour mouth.
Wightlink ferry, Pompey - Fishbourne £286 ! Same date, same sailing times.

But as I understand it, they would struggle with the kind of injuries, coming off a bike at xxx mph. would create. Glad to be corrected.

Its not a public road! Its a road to which the public have access, hence the race circuit have a look at various 1920/30/50 there were such tracks all over England Racing through local parks with trees etc and only straw bales, thats what killed it off! The clue is in the Main Gate!

I’m only posting what Oliver’s Mount themselves say it is....and they say it’s public highway, the public can drive on it, so I’ll go with what they say.

Oliversmount.com
The Circuit. We must add that Oliver's Mount is a public highway, if you visit Oliver's Mount outside of race days, please note that the speed limit around the whole site is 30 mph. Please respect residents and other road users by sticking to these speed limits

DiscoverYorkshirecoast.com
’The exciting news that motorcycle racing is all set to return to the sport’s iconic and only English road racing circuit is expected to be warmly welcomed by UK and international motorcycle racing fans and also tourism businesses on the Yorkshire Coast, for whom racing events at Oliver’s Mount are big business.’

Wikipedia
The Oliver's Mount track is a street circuit composed of twisty public roads and has played host to domestic motorcycling and rallying events for many years. Noted motorcycle racers who have raced at Oliver's Mount include Barry Sheene.

Bennett’s.co.uk
Road racing is set to return to Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough in July 2019. Oliver’s Mount is the UK mainland’s last surviving road racing circuit

Devitt
With changes in elevation, high-speed jumps, tree lined narrow roads and the fans only a few feet away, Oliver’s Mount has everything you’d expect from a public road course.

Racingcircuits.info
England’s only natural ‘road’ racing track, Oliver’s Mount sits just five minutes’ from Scarborough’s town centre, with the races frequently being likened to a ‘miniature TT by the seaside’.

Bmf.co.uk
The UK mainland’s only motorcycle road race circuit, Oliver’s Mount is a 2.43-mile track based on public roads overlooking the North Yorkshire seaside town.

thescarboroughnews.co.uk

It shows the road names on my sat nav that can route through it....

Its maintained by Scarborough BC and is a right if way to which the public have access splitting hairs I know but that is why racing has gone on there ! It is open to all and you can drive round it but if you look at the circuit apart from start and finish there are a distinct lack of white lines , give way stop and other road markings! Anyway as I said I stand corrected on public roads for racing but still don't think the IOW TT will ever go ahead as it will be too disruptive and costly to stage. That's all folks!

It's a publicity stunt by the Island council. Why the IofW. Loads of fabulous road circuits available in Wales and Derbyshire and so much easier to travel to.

I genuinely hope the plans for the IOW get off the ground, it would be great for Road Race fans and the economy of the island.
