They certainly need help. I returned last week after 9 days over there. 30 years ago we use to spend part of our school hols with our yacht around the island's anchorages and we thought it was rather 'quaint', stuck in the 50's. The 'yachtie' bits, Yarmouth and Cowes are o.k. still but we found much of the rest to be very shabby; Shanklin seafront is disgraceful with boarded up buildings and tatty cafes/kiosks.
