Spent 5 nights of our holiday on the IOW (Red Funnel offer) & used public transport all the time to get about. We bought a 7 day Freedom ticket which was £20 each & went all over the island. It was extremely good value as it could be used on all Southern Vectis buses + the open top bus trip + the land trains (the open top bus trips alone would've been £10 each). We travelled all over & visited lots of places & attractions. OK sometimes we had a bit of a wait but was no problem as we ended up 'chatting' to others in the bus queue. The buses run late into the evening so could have a meal out & both have an alcoholic drink no problem before heading back. Our daughter had camped on the same deal at the same site a few weeks before & she estimated that they spent more on petrol & parking as we had on the bus tickets. So if you are heading that way for your holidays hope you find this info useful.

Hi Cupcake
We have returned today from a Red Funnel deal on the Isle of Wight.
We to used the buses to get around the island as well, Southern Vectis provide a really good service. Being in possession of Freedom Passes we didn't have to pay at all as they are accepted on Southern Vectis services. They are however not valid on the railway or the Island Breezer buses. We had a great break, even the weather was good.

We did all the Breezer trips and the Coastliner with the Freedom ticket. We heard it's the council that has stopped the use of free bus passes on these routes this year, I think they could be used last summer so there were a few disappointed / angry travellers about!
