Having installed the above my battery life is now crap.

I can actually see the “percentage charge remaining” going down. It was not this bad before and iOS 12 claims to e tend battery life.

The charge has dropped 1% in the time it has taken me to make this post and I can type fairly quickly.

Anyone else got the same problem?

Since posting the above I have done some on line research and I am not alone.

If you have a similar problem there are some good remedial suggestions on line.

I noticed this too after installing iOS 12 - but then found the screen lock function had changed itself to “never “ . After changing it back to 10 minutes, battery life seems back to normal.

Has the update turned on stuff like Bluetooth which maybe you normally have turned off, I’ve noticed this happens with other updates.
I’m waiting before I do mine.

I have BT turned on at the moment (tethering to wife’s phone while we’re away) so I’m not sure. It did reinstate several Apple apps which I’d deleted but Apple obviously felt I should have! But the messing around with the keyboard is doing my head in.

I recommend checking on-line.

There are a number of new features in iOS 12 that can cause battery drain but that can be altered to improve the situation.

Also as @Manic suggested Bluetooth had been turned on.

Since carrying out the “fixes” battery life does seem better but only time will tell.

As @RowleyBirkinQC suggests, if you haven’t yet downloaded iOS12 it might be worth waiting for the inevitable and necessary second update.

your imagining it apple products are faultless
Unlike Microsoft who were so proud of their original DOS it is probably still hiding at the bottom of 30+ years of updates, modifications and daily patches. :)

What have they done to the keyboard.

I am having trouble as well. Have they put an emoji button on the bottom left? I keep hitting the bloody thing when I want to change from letters to numbers.

I was literally whinging to my wife about it 5 minutes ago:mad:
