Hi Rob

Depends for a start what you expect it to run, I guess at the price it will be modified sine wave so not everything will run. Again it depends how you are going to install it but I would want remote start/stop.

Could anyone tell me if this inverter is any good.
Thanks Rob

For what purpose ?

The usual hair dryers - OK
Charging a phone - No.

100W is a big load in a MH, 1500 is mind blowing.

We have 2kw pure sine and it runs the microwave and other things fine from our two 80ah Gel batteries, before I changed the inverter over to pure sine the microwave was rubbish, now it just the same as mains.

Pure sine way, good choice.
Microwave OK as long as you know the limitations. As in 1000 watts will take around 100 amps and that will flatten a 100Ah battery in something like 15 mins then the lights go out.

I bought that one couple of weeks ago
delivered in 2 days from Bolton. Nicely made pure sine easy to fit in place of my old 800w. Runs 1200w hair dryer or microwave 700w no problem, I do have nearly 400ah of traction battery though as those items suck a lot of power in a very short time. Good value I think when you look at the likes of Sterling.
Just realised you've marked the 24 v one not the 12v make sure you get that right.

You are in a different league to most hopefuls who hope a normal battery will cope.

Normal batteries are specified at a 20h rate so hit them with 1000w they just can't deliver what it says on the tin. You though, with 4 proper job batteries, will get pretty much what it says on the tin.

Great innit and another reason I won't buy so called Leisure Batteries. :) Twin solar panels as well we can go months without ehu even in winter. Plus a genny built into the chassis which I can control from the dash and a big ol Ctek charger connected to it. So if we do run a bit low I can give the batts a big boost going along.
Best of all most of it was fitted when I bought the van.

Not a bad price for pure sine, I thought that they might have mentioned it in the advert though.

We have a 800W Baumatic 20Litre microwave in our MoHo. The 800W is the output power to the food, as microwaves a particularly inefficient it needs a input power of 1250W. To cope with this we have a 1500W inverter.
Here is the technical data I received from the technical department of the microwave manufacturer:

Microwave oven technical data
Electrical connection rating (W) 1250
Maximum microwave power (W) 800
Maximum grill power (W)
Maximum hot air power (W)
Power supply voltage (V) 230
Frequency (Hz) 50
Fuse rating (AMPS) 8
Lead-in cable length (mm) 1000
The microwave is designed to operate off a standard 230v,50 hz supply. The 8amp fuse rating is an internal fuse on the mains filter pcb. The fuse in the plug should be 13amp.

I took "standard 230v,50 hz supply" to mean that a pure sine wave inverter was required. A 1000W inverter is too small, our inverter reports that its suppling 1.28kW when we use the microwave, the battery monitors reports that it draws 124Amps.

That one is 24volts input.

And whichever one you get make sure you put some hefty cables to it as lots of V drop through small cables.

That's the one I got but didn't bother with remote control, can't see the point just something else to go wrong . Make sure you get some big cables the ones that come with it are rubbish I got some hefty welding cable to wire mine in.

How do you do that as that was one of the things i wanted to do.

Do you need a auto changeover switch or something like that.

Mine is just connected to the nearest traction/leisure battery then a cable plugged into the inverter feeds two sockets one by the table one above the sink. Maybe fit a third socket in the garage as that's where the microwave is because we probably only use 5 or 6 times a year. You can wire into mains but too complicated for me and don't actually see why you would want too, if on EHU I don't need the inverter and vice versa, keep it simple my motto.

At 1500W and 85% efficiency it will be drawing almost 150 amps. Hope you have plenty of big batteries. :) Of course you probably won't be running it at full power but worth bearing in mind how quickly this thing has the potential to flatten your batteries.

I think what was meant is when not on ehu you can send the power to the sockets in you motor-home thus doing away with extension cables or running new sockets.
