Hiya Everyone,

Does anyone know or has anyone replaced the leads on 1000 watt inverter ???
Can they be replaced with longer leads ???
As we have downsized the van, the leisure battery is now under the bonnet and the leads are too short to reach the battery

Hope you understand what I mean, Thanx in advance :thumb:

Hi Dawn yes you can replace the leads, the size of cable will depend on how long your new leads will be.

If you assume as a rough rule of thumb that it will consume 100amps when working flat out then a 3 metre length of 25mm2 battery cable will have a voltage drop of about 1/2 volt, thats getting on for 5% If its futher than this I would use 50mm2.

If possible keep your leads from the battery as short as possible, the inverter is usually supllied with the recommended type and length of cable to do the job, this should not be changed. It is better to lengthen the cable on the output side with a good quality extension lead perhaps with a neon indicator .You can also get inverters with remote switching so the inverter can be tucked away out of sight and switched via the remote.

Hiya stagman,

Thanks for that :thumb:
The leads are only about 1-2ft short of reaching the battery
