I Make Schoolboy Errors!
So about to install a 375VA Victron VE Direct pure sinewave inverter with it's standard UK 3pin socket outlet. I won't be trying to wire the outlet to the van's 230V systems, it will remain standalone for the occasional use, so I can plug direct a 150W laptop's powerbrick or top off my 2A Bosch e-bike battery charger, to use "spare" capacity of my 120AH lithium.

The installation details say the inverter needs to be grounded. The inverter, on the rear has a connector with an earthing symbol. . Is this as simple of running a wire from the connector to the vehicle chassis / or back to the negative of the battery?

In 12V terms I've often understood earth / ground / negative to be interchangeable, and thus inter.
For 230V mains these do mean different things with earth usually green/yellow sheathed cables, and the earth and negatives in the mains circuitry don't interconnect.

If I'm not the results could be quite shocking ....

social fireworks gatherings are banned this year but if it is a really good show I should be able to see it from here
