I'm Intermediate
Hi There Everyone
I have an intermittent wiper problem on my Fiat MH, every now and then the wipers stop working even on intermittent or continuous. There seems to be no pattern to when the wipers pack up, but when they do a certain time later they start again, this can be 5mins 15mins 20mins and so on.
I hate this sort of fault, I would rather they packed up altogether than be intermittent like this.
Hope some of you have some idea of what the problem might be.
Best Wishes Tony

Hi Tony,
The problem is that your wipers don’t work properly.
The solution is to become exceptionally good at predicting the amount of rainfall and sinchronising this with the wipers;)
Alternatively...........it may be a loose connection, and they will probably pack up altogether soon.
Hopefully someone helpful, rather than this beer soaked J Arthur Ranker will be along soon to give you some real help!

I get the same problem. I have to twiddle the timing control for the intermittent wipers to the top or bottom position, and all is well for a while.

Personally I always spray anything electrical with switch cleaner first. then if that don’t cure it rip it apart. I can’t make it any worse and sometimes I get lucky

Probably a dodgy connection the wipers on my truck sometimes keep going even though I’ve turned them off they can go on for several minutes a real pain once it’s stopped raining they sort them selves out if I turn the ignition off and back on not ideal when your driving. Still can’t find the fault.

Sounds like the wiper motor overheat is tripping.
Possible causes are knackered wiper blades, motor or (as was the case for me) corrosion on wiper linkage (mine was driver side)
Solution, replace motor and linkage - about £100 on ebay and 1hrs work

If you flip up the bonnet and take a look at the linkage, any signs of corrosion on any of the joints will cause it, temp solution is a good dose of wd40, but it will happen again...

Edit...also, before fitting new linkage, drill hole for drainage in the well of the drivers side one, the only protection from water ingress to the linkage is some foam, now make sure i put some drops of oil on that on a regular basis. Ive not had the problem since changing mine out earlier this year

Used to do the same till i worked out what was happening, the twiddeling was doing nothing.
What was actually happening was the overheat trip was reseting itself as the motor cooled down, the random time was just dependant on the outside temperature and speed being driven :)

Take a close look at the linkage as per my other post. It will only get worse

instructions attached - main one is the wiper linkage removal, the other are ones referenced

ebay item

When removing, make note of how it came out as its a bit fiddly putting the new one in may test your patience!!!

Your welcome

Drove me nuts for ages, garage couldnt find anything wrong and were suggesting it was the stalk which would have cost a shed load more than £100 as the steering wheel and all that stuff would have to come out.
So a bit of googlin (alot!) And some straight forward fault finding got me there in the end and its rather nice driving round in the rain now not wondering if im going to have to pull over...

No help to you but I’ve also got wiper problems, mine is just the intermitten, which doesn’t work.
took the motor to bits and all locks could. I can hear the relays click but that’s all.
