Interesting NEW small dog carrier for bicycles (1 Viewer)

Saw this and remembered someone was looking for something for a + size small dog recently. I like the fact that the weight is over the crossbar and not hanging off the handlebars, should be a lot more stable and i assume can handle dogs that bit heavier.

I have the same. I find it pushes my knees out though. I haven’t seen anyone else mention this problem. Do you find it alters how you cycle?

We’ve had 2 buddyriders for about 3 years now. Our dogs love them and so do we! just a couple of things to point out , as Ayl1 mentioned they do mean your riding style has to change slightly, but that’s not a big deal. Also, you really do need to be able to reach the floor with at least one foot whilst seated as there’s now a horizontal bar that stops you coming forward off your saddle to touch the floor (I lower our seat posts a tad before we set off)
we both really like that our dogs are right there in front of us and not trailing behind.

I had to change my wife’s bike seat post as the fancy one with suspension didn’t go low enough to permit with the dog on board for her to stop gracefully (read fall off), I bought a spare mounting bracket for my bike as well. I think they do help balance the bike with extra load of the dog and basket as the extra weight is balanced between the wheels.

Me and Gizmo have been using this got rears now. He is 7.5kg, I am a lot, lot more. Never had a problem

The issue is my frenchie 10kg repositions and her fat rear de-stabilises the handle bars and makes for a wobbly ride so I found rear basket with crash cage as above … easier to ride like that. She’d never tolerate a handle bar one and mine dips down as woman’s design.

Not that new! We have one, works well. No stability issues, but the fat that it is located directly in from of the saddle means a wide-legged pedalling technique is needed. Distance from seat post to handlebars is a crucial measurement, check before buying. 13kg maximum.

I have had one for over two years and Benji loves it. Even made a wind shield for it and covered in when we use it in the Winter.
Get lots of interest in it as I look after five miles of canal so we are out on it a lot.
Benji is in it a lot as he has a serious heart condition which only allows him to walk/run for short distances. Ideal as it is 10 miles along the canal and back.
Picture Two was taken when it was Minus 2C so he was not impressed with the photo shoot.

We have one for 12.5 kg Cockapoo. He just fits so no more treats for him! The main issue I have with it is stopping the seat from rotating where it attaches to the seat post.

I drilled a hole through the bracket and stem, put a bolt through it, drilled the bolt and attached a small lock through it. Discourages folk from nicking it too.

Our friends took their two Bichon Frise to Wells next to the Sea and they "Buddy-ridered" them with us (we were on the tandem) to Burnham Market. We usually get loads of attention, but this ride we barely got a look in. Dougie and Daisy were the stars of the show. Photo opportunities galore and oos and ahs at every turn. The doggies absolutely love them too and they both chilled in them. Highly recommended.

We can relate to this, our Cockapoo rides with me, my wife follows because Fifi (dog) squeals if she can see ‘mummy’ in front. So many people we pass point and smile when they see Ffffi’s sitting in front of me as we cycle along.

Last time out with the trailer on the back of my mountain bike I had a woman screaming at me to stop. I was crossing a stone section of beech that was really hard going. Monty the dog was running alongside ish. The trailer had gone over onto its side but I’m just going flatout towards the hard ground the other side unwilling to stop. Eventually woman comes over and nearly pulls me off the bike. She thought I had a child in the trailer, and was just dragging it along the beach.
