My son in law threatened to do something like that when he MOT’d the Jag......

I got a failure for a cracked towing electric socket, not the 13 pin one either, and without the ball hitch.

Xmas cd got to be better then a five finger punch.....

That's so funny, I love a guy with a sense of humour.

Report it to VOSA. 7 pin socket isn't an MOT item.
It is - but only a visual rather than functional inspection. It falls in with the inspection of all electrical equipment on the car - a visual inspection for damage, loose wires, etc.

It's still not a failable item unlike a 13 pin which must be secure and fully functional.

OK, my mistake... But

Section 1.9 Sub section 3

Reason for failure
3. A trailer electrical socket: a. insecure
b. damaged or deteriorated to the extent that the connecting lead could not be securely connected.

The OP doesn't say if that's the case or if its simply cracked which isn't a fail

Dont see a problem with advisorys some definately need looking at and a lot more dont mechanical wise always worth looking and using some preventative maintenance so will last a few more years without major cost

I had an advisory regarding front pads worn.
Checked with wheel removed and found to be good... Hard to see with wheel in place.
Same advisory for two more years then on the third year no mention.
Same tester each year.

Next thing we know they’ll be advertising Easter chocolates in December.....

We used to set up and run the Easter Egg Line In November, at the Old Needler Chocolate Factory In HULL back in the early 60`s(y).

Agreed - my point was only that it is visually inspected.
