Well after getting quotes from a range of insurers finally settled on the CAMC as they came in the cheapest with the cover needed. Cost came in at £892 for our new Elddis Chatsworth 185 insured for its current new replacement value of £71k. No NCD to use as these retained on cars. Highest quote was nearly £3k!!!!!

Excited now as we get ready to collect tomorrow from Glossop Caravans and the adventures really get started with a weekend trip to Chatsworth CAMC to test everything!!

wow that seems a bit expensive , did you try comfort insurance who are generally not bothered about NCD.

Hi Phil - yes we did the problem seems to be the £71k value albeit this is some £14k more than paid on ordering the motorhome back in February. As the cost of replacement increases so it would appear are the premiums.

Its £50 per month than we were paying for the caravan insurance but we have made savings on downsizing our car from Sorento to Ecosport so overall the increased cost is not as great as it seems.

Comfort for my new van, collection on Friday valued at £69500 with no no claims usage came in at £420. NFU and Caravan and Camping club were over £1k!!!!

Sounds expensive to me we pay £390 with Comfort, van insured for £75k.

Does sound a bit on the high side! Collecting 95k value MoHo this week and fully comp insurance direct from LV with no NCB on the policy is £352.

What I did to retain a 12yr+ NCB and keep the price down, was to transfer the insurance from another vehicle which had this NCB to the MH and reinsured the original, cheaper vehicle it had come off.

The company I was insured with, didn't like it much but when I told them another company had offered a better quote and I was prepared to move my insurance too them, they accepted the situation.

I hope that makes sense.

It's very difficult when comparing insurance quotes, there are so many anomalies taken into account, value being just one. The OP sounds as though he is comfortable with the quote.
