Just re insured with Lifesure who we have had great customer service and good deals from for many years.
Had to go to Safeguard last year because we needed to insure new Hymer on the chassis number to bring it home from Belgium.
Lifesure were slightly dearer because Safeguard throw in recovery, but on studying the detail Bren found that the Lifesure breakdown cover at £99 was better.
Value 75k, Mileage 12kpa, Ins= £541 + £99 bd.

That sounds expensive for an ML, did you try Comfort & their breakdown cover is only £60. I didn't pay anything like that for my new Dynamic Line.

I found last year that the declared mileage really makes a lot of difference

we paid around £500 and only 8K miles :(

I think I recall about £50 / 2000 extra miles

Just had a quote for insurance from Asda for motorhome. Recovery is extra but the quote is only £190. I have had a lot of quotes for over £600 with recovery.
Not sure if I made mistake or they have but it seems too good to be true.

Be careful probably a car policy or modified car policy cover will not be anywhere as good a a proper Motorhome poli y.

They gave you drop down boxes and I clicked motorhome, in the quote they call it a motorhome quote.
Still not sure about it will have to look closer.

insurance is so cheap in the Uk it's ridiculous. I'd consider 500 for a 75 k van to be as cheap as chips.let alone in some cases half that price.
Mind you for 500 I'd expect to be driving it daily with no mileage limit:D

im a not so newbie
If I do an online quote I always follow up with a call to them to make sure all is as it should be.

Did a similar thing with RAC on my works van and on the phone they doubled the price for some odd reason
Needless to say they dint get my business :)

After importing the van we went back to Comfort no tracker required if under £75k, insured the Hymer Dynamic Line for £74½k as that's about what it cost us after I'd fitted over a couple of grands worth of bits.
Cost £381 including £12 for audio and sat cover (8k miles a year). Bit annoyed as they said it would be the same as the Exsis (£294) but when I came to insure they said that price was only valid for 30 days and it was a few days over that.
Safeguard was nearly £600.

My requirement is for (up to) 365 day European cover.

Many good comments on his forum regarding Comfort and their 365day cover policies which Comfort themselves promote.

Called them. They will only cover a maximum of 9 months abroad in any one year.

So how can 365 days European cover actually mean 270 days?

I think you'll find that if you are full timing you need a special policy as they quote in their T&Cs if you are using your van more than 9 months in any one year it is classed as full timing.

So they really mean you can use any 270 days out of 365. Argh!!!

Indeed, and that is what they have told me.

However, their written quotation to me clearly states
"
  • Full 365 day foreign use cover, with no single trip limit"
How else should it be interpreted?
