It may have changed but last year when I looking for motorhome insurance I checked the policy document and the windscreen cover was for only £600. They may answer its covered as long as its repaired with Autoglass with only the excess to pay which does not confirm its ok for a motorhome. Usually motorhome policies state around £3000 or unlimited.

Absolute beginners.
I just had a quick look, and for a replacement screen on a standard Fiat Ducato chassis vehicle, ie, quite a large % of M.H's, it cost just shy of £500.00, fully inclusive of fitting. A classes are probably a different matter!!

A class screens are usually special order, only when needed as they cost thousands. No vehicle glass specialist keeps one of each in stock in case of emergency. The manufacturers order a special run be made to cover their production needs plus a percentage to hold in stock. It is not unknown to have a long wait to replace a cracked screen on an A class van

Since 2019.
OK, I telephoned LV this afternoon. There is a facility apparently during the online process to specify a motorhome rather than, in my case, a Fiat Ducato van but I couldn't get it to work so my quotation was amended during a call. Changing the vehicle from a Ducato van to a motorhome made no difference to the price but the quotation does now specify a "Fiat Motorcaravan".

The policy document is still worded for a car not a motor caravan. The wording in the policy for fittings is:
  1. In-car equipment
There’s unlimited replacement cover if the equipment was fitted by the car’s manufacturer when your car was first registered.
If it wasn’t then we’ll pay for permanently fitted or portable equipment up to £1,000. Portable equipment must have been kept out of sight in the glove box or locked boot at the time of a theft claim.
but there is a reference to a motorhome in:

Section 9 Personal belongings What’s covered
We’ll pay up to £300 for personal belongings in your car or up to £1,000 in your motorhome, if lost or damaged due to accident, fire, theft or attempted theft.

I think that sounds OK. It's not all singing all dancing specialist motorhome insurance but it appears to cover the basics. Interested to hear what others think.

Does it cover awning, fire caused by gas aplliances/bottles etc?
Also the windscreen cover I've just had my screen replaced £2500 plus labour.

I would check the definitions clause of the Policy. "Car" is probably a defined word. Therefore that definition will apply wherever the word "car" appears in the Policy and that is how it will be interpreted. Unless "car" as defined also includes any motorhome or motor caravan, you can't assume that such a wide interpretation will apply, even if it makes no sense, based on having paid a premium for motorhome cover.

All the various insurance threads we have had on here over many years have never come up with this before, always been about "motorhome" policy's and could explain why there is so much discrepancy in prices, as some are in fact car policy's which has never been mentioned before.
Personally I would be very wary of insureing a motorhome as a car.

Just another point our motorhome is way cheaper to insure than our cars, so doesn't really make sense.
