Caravanning for 30 years, motorhome beginners
We may just possibly be about to buy our first motorhome. We've just done a dummy Go Compare on insurance and really surprised that its a wee bit cheaper than our caravan and not much more than our cars. Do we have to take out a separate policy for any contents we take with us?

It might be best to speak to someone at an insurance company. Try AIB, no call centres, you get to speak to the same person if you call again and they can actually answer questions.
I tried a couple of companies and their insurance was the best, cheaper than my car insurance and good personal service.
Tell them you're a member of a Fun if you call.

There will be some cover for contents taken with you. It depends on who you insure with how much it will be for.

Depends on the company.. I'm with Comfort and they include £3000 for personal belongings..

Most policy's have a 2K or 3K limit for contents, its best to read the small print.;)

You also need to consider what cover may be included in any home policy you may have.

After having a van stolen, most of the interior contents came under a normal household policy and the vans policy covered only the van and permanent fixtures like Gaslow and Solar Panels. Always check the policy covers you for overseas breakdown if you wish to go out of the country.
