Would love some advice here. We had an accident five weeks ago - guy drove out of side road and destroyed front near side. Then, on way to next compound the truck carrying it was involved in another accident so now all the front is bashed in as well. So, two claims going on, van isn’t even assessed yet despite many photos etc etc from us on the day. Added to that, it will have suffered battery damage and will probably have frozen this last week, neither of which are really the fault of the other two accidents. Does anyone have any experience or bright ideas on how to navigate this?

That’s complicated, will the damage now be big enough to write it off?

That will overcome any other internal concerns you may have, if marginal for write off, definitely worth adding the frost damage risk to the claim 👍

Good luck, you deserve some 🤔👍
Thanks. I think we do need some luck here!. A Write-off would be easier but I think the motorhome is probably too valuable and repair costs won’t reach the benchmark.

The vehicle has to be put back to its condition just prior to first accident so you need to speak to the claims handling section of your insurers ( probably a 3rd party business) and make sure they understand your concerns around potential internal damage caused by storage etc. Its up to your insurers to decide which of the other 2 insurance companies actually re-imburse them for the damages.

In that situation best option I would think is let your insurance company deal with it but make sure you get your excess recover from both third parties so they go down as no fault accidents. If you have it may be best to use Legal Protection policy to make sure you get the excess back.

Your claim(s) might sail through with out any problems……pigs might fly. So record every single conversation, phone call, email that takes place,to the point of being anal over it. As already stated, use your Legal Protection cover if you have it. I guess the insurers involved ( four?) will argue over it. Good luck.

Thank you. This clarifies everything at a time when we feel we’re going round in circles and no-one does what they say they are going to do. Going to put it all in writing now.

Thank you. That sounds like a very good idea. We’ve started to feel helpless and it shouldn’t be this way!

Yes, definitely keep a diary with dates, times and who you spoke with. When you ask for full names state you need it for your record of events :)

Oh my gosh. Another really good idea. I have dates but full names - definitely. They actually LOST the van for a few days two weeks ago! It’s getting a bit mental.
