I see that North Yorkshire, England’s biggest county, currently 9 different councils will be condensed into just 2 councils, York for one and then the rest all grouped together.

The total number of councillors will reduce from over 300 to just 90. That’s a massive change to come in April.

I hope this doesn’t affect the Ingleton overnight facility as Craven council is one of those which will go.

If it is anything like Northumberland they will keep the status quo until everything settles down.
Eventually there will be a policy covering the whole of the new authority and whether or not existing facilities are kept, reduced or extended will depend on the demand perceived by those formulating the policy.
In the case of Northumberland, as I was still running my web site, I had several email discussions with the officers concerned and the end result was positive. The council web site still provided details Broken Link Removed.
I would suggest that anyone interested in preserving/increasing facilities for motorhomes get in touch to have make the case. Rather than waiting for the new authority to come into being it may be worth contacting Craven now to start the ball rolling.

Skipton and Settle also allow overnight parking on their major town centre car park.

Maybe there will be lots of spare parking spots at the old Council offices which MHs could use ?
