We've missed the flu (so far) having been in France and Spain all year. I know it's been going round, but we've managed by pure luck as it seems we arrive somewhere just as people have been "getting over it".

Right now on the Med coast of Spain enjoying 18C and sunshine, but need to plan on returning soon.

So when? The newspapers seem to have forgotten about it, is it still prevalent but no longer "News" .

We get the paper daily on the Kindle, but its full of Oxfam and Brexit, what about the NHS in crisis?

Be careful as you transit France, we are in the depths of it, I have already had two, repeat TWO bouts of man flue one end of Jan and another just recovering now, medical experts are doing tests to see how I managed to survive. Large volumes of single malt were used to calm the pain ... hell .... it's been BAD.

Stay safe ..... stay away

phil ... the super snotty nosed one

It’s still around in Bristol. Proper flu, not the sort you can self medicate with single malt:(
I haven’t had a drink other than water or lucazade for over 2 weeks. Cannot even face a cup of tea.
There’s always a silver lining, I’m one dress size down already!

It's odd how it gets around, seven in our household and only three got it and it lasted a month , a real nasty.

Around Christmas time - all we were hearing was friends and family had the flu and it was bad normally lasting for a few weeks and a visit to the doctors to recover. No such reports during the past couple of weeks but I would give it another couple of weeks if you can because if enjoying 18C at the moment we are still talking about 8C being a good day over here.

Erm......if you need to plan to return soon.....I suggest you leave it until the latest you can. The risk of catching flu reduces as our summer approaches.

I have had it for 2 months since being in the UK, or something more serious! Doctors within a few days. In Spain at the monent.
Three of our friends have experienced very bad back pains for weeks following getting the latest Flu bug that was going around over here recently. Hopefully no more serious.

Has anyone had flu?

Once, thankfully only once all the way back in 1972. I truly thought I was dying, couldn't get out of bed at all ... horrible experience. I've had many bouts of cold and I know the difference. It is said there is a £50 note test between the cold and flue. If you see a £50 on the floor and you have cold, you will bend and pick it up, if you have flue .... you simply do not care not only would you not even consider picking it up, its presence probably would not even register .... and that my friends ....... for a Yorkshireman ..... is very bad indeed.

If you have been in the sun and have a tan then safe to come home, as you have topped up your resistance with loads of Vitamin D. no tan , no come back yet.

BIL on third bout in 3 months. Never really went away. Should have been down in New Forest with grandkids but in bed, again, and he never normally goes to his bed when he feels ill. Really sorry for him.
