Well, we know what it looks like - mould along the rubber seal of the ice-box - BUT… it won’t wipe off! Not with soap, not with vinegar, not with bi-carb or toothpaste, not with the scrubby-sponge. It’s like a paint or tar-mark. Not a trace on the surface it closes on.
Of course, we didn’t notice it when we bought the vehicle, but it’s so stubborn it must have been there all along. All suggestions welcome as we’re out of ideas. Maybe we shouldn’t have started cleaning 😆

The stuff they make for showers should remove it. If it is organic, bleach should have some effect.

Silly I know, but I don’t think it’s mould. I think that its the result of the smallest vibrations and everyday dust etc, hence the shape and uniformity of the marks.

I’ve the same and it won’t sift, doesn’t smell or leave any black marks as mould would and should. Eventually my seal has simply fallen off in parts and I haven’t renewed it as it’s made no difference to the running of the fridge or freezer.

Absolute beginners.
If it is mould, Brintons solution will shift it.If it doesn't work, probably isn't mould.

Yes PP Bear - I think it’s got to be something like that. Nothing on the opposing surface, but definitely ’inked’ into the rubber. Hey-ho, another of motorhoming-life’s mysteries! Things would be boring, otherwise 😊

If you cannot remove it, get a black permanent marker and carefully make the whole groove black, red, blue etc
If done well it will look like a design feature. Personally I think it is mould that permeated into the seal, no surface treatment will remove it. Of course you could just buy a new seal, may be cheaper than a dozen bottles of snake oil.

Haha - a cover up! A new seal would be the simplest answer. It’s most annoying that we’re both so sure we would have noticed it on purchase (Feb) or on any one of our 6 subsequent trips - I guess that’s the painful bit! 🤩

It definitely looks like the marks left if the door has been left shut for a while and mould has developed then been cleaned off leaving behind staining which is highly likely not removable (you get the same thing on sealant in bathrooms etc), it's not doing any harm but just looks naff. I wouldn't worry about it but when you aren't using the MH to prevent mould in the future put a flannel or something in the freezer door to keep it open a little and the main door slightly open (it may have a setting for this already) or again use a towel to keep it ajar.

mines the same . If its a Dometic RMS 8401 (and already googled it :ROFLMAO: .) £70 ish cheapest i have seen is £57 but out of stock. tried HG mould spray which is best i have used for getting stains off grout and silicone but that didn't work, and its not that bad that ir warrants a new door.
