I'm going to sound really thick now ...

Is this a meeting of Indian owners, i.e. people of Indian origin, or people who own a motorhome that is called an Indian?

Remember being at Americana several years ago and was standing admiring an old Airstream when an elderly gentleman rode up on one of the big Indians and switched it off so that we could chat. After some time chewing the fat he bade his farewells and I stood in amazement when he kicked the thing into life. I shouted above the din that would he be OK and he replied "When I can no longer kick it, that's the time to get rid". He had owned that bike for almost 30 years.
