In Spain and Portugal which is the best satalght

Hi all
We are in Spain and going to Portugal as yet we haven't been able to get a satalght connection
We're using a oyster system in our hymer 570 ML van
It worked great in France earlier this year but not so good now
This is only our second trip abroad in out van
So any help / advice would be much appreciated

I'm no expert but there's probably nothing wrong with your system, its just that you're outside the footprint of the satellite.
The reach of the satellite only goes as far south as the bottom of France on an 80cm dish.
I once read an article by a sat engineer stating that the only way that he would guarantee good reception that far south was with the installation of a 2m dish!

When in Spain/Portugal we use Astra 1 on our Oyster system.

It provides a few English programmes like Sky news etc. We watch F1 motorsport in German on RTL Austria. You'll need to set your dish to Astra 1 and scan in the programmes. This assumes you have a multi satellite receiver or a TV with an inbuilt decoder.

You can also tune you TV to the local terrestrial channels. Quite a lot of English/American programs broadcast. You can turn the dubbing off in your sound settings and have the original English sound track.
