Had one for 5 years many moons ago. Now starting again.
I looked up your main, Perol Cordobes, and it's like a cross between a risotto and a paella. Very strict rules about what's in the authentic one - though I bet there's loads of variations! - the main difference is that the last thing that goes in when everything else is nigh on cooked is the rice.
Looks mighty tasty though.

If you land anywhere on the coast between Malaga and Motril I'm sure you owe me a beer:cheers:
Hi Dave
We've landed at Camping Tropical at Almunecar. Not sure how long we'll stay - depends on what the town is like. Perhaps no longer than two nights as we were planning to go to the Aire at Almerimar before heading to Granada on Thursday.

If you fancy meeting up for a beer whilst we're in Almunecar - let me know

We've arrived at Camping Tropical (Campercontact 26277), 12 Euro a night.

Needed to catch up with the washing, and fancied bit of a rest in the sun after the constant driving of the past few days.

Walked down into the town to stretch our legs and have a quick drinkie.

Sat in a bar watching the sun slowly going down - sipping Cuba Libre's

Hate to break this to you Robert, but in your haste you passed Granada about 60 miles ago :D:D

Hope the sun continues to shine on you both, sounds like a great value pitch fee (y)

Had a problem getting tickets for the Alhambra - Friday was the first day I could get. So have had to re organise our route accordingly.
A bit like life itself !

Cuba Libre.:)
That brings memories flooding back of a holiday in my yoof in Ibiza. The sume total of my Spanish was along the lines of: Quatro Cuba Libres por favor.;)
The barman would then slosh ice in a tumbler, up end the Bacardi bottle, look round the bar for a while and finally splash a drop of coke into the small space left in the glass.(y)
Strangely in those days there was no mass of drunk Brits crawling the streets, throwing up and peeing against walls.
Just a lot of young people enjoying themselves but still acting like human beings. How things have changed.:(

For the foodies - tonight's dinner was a bit of a surprise

Not traditional Spanish, but exceptional quality.
Mrs C had Entrecôte Steak - cooked blue
image.jpeg

I had loin of Iberico pork, served in a coconut and curry sauce - served on a bed of rice

image.jpeg

For desert we shared Apple tart, with custard and caramel ice cream - sorry but I forgot to take a pic

Tomorrow wer're going in search of a hearty Spanish lunch after exploring exploring Almunecar old town

Robert, you are going to have to stop all of this food porn . It is making me feel very hungry ......

But I like the less formal dining you can get in Spain. It is nice to just go into a bar, sit at the counter and start pointing at the tapas you fancy. When are you going to start on that?

Haven't fully recovered from the last time we did 'informal' dining in Spain
We inadvertently ordered a bowl of tripe, and another time were served pigs trotters.
There were pigs ears on the menu in Puerto Lapice

Am hoping to find rabbit on the menu soon -was one of my favourites

Made the same mistake in France many years ago. Ended up with a plateful of goose gizzards, to quote the subsequent translation I found too late. Mind you I should have known better to go out for a meal on the evening that France were playing in the World Cup. Empty restaurant and few staff to be found.

I must say that the tripe and trotters would make me heave, even just looking at it. That's why with tapas we now sit at the bar and look at the food on offer, rather then rely upon the menu. It also means we can eat as much or as little as we want.

Trotters are very tasty, the only problem is you need a degree in porcine anatomy to be able to eat one in less than two hours. There is a restaurant in Paris called the Pied de Cochon which specialises in them. It is very popular, we queued for half an hour to get in, but it was worth it. I was with some Frenchmen would took their food seriously. :)

That horrible pic upset my delicate stomach - I've had to order a medicinal rum to settle it down

I didn't. Mine was pre-prepared and I had only the meat etc! and that was bad enough. That was Martin's. He struggled but didn't like to offend our friends. He's only just eating red meat again almost a month later

there is a video on youtube of eating a roast pigs head (including eye balls) in a restaurant..I wont post it:coffee:
