Lovely site, we went in May and looks like we are going back in December for 4 nights although have to check to see if they are open.
We had a massive corner pitch.

Three Magpies was good as was The Barge just up the towpath😁

Totally agree. Great location. We were there in the summer too. Probably about 4 years ago we stayed there over New Year, some of the barges had gone to great lengths to have lighting displays.
It still amazes me at the great engineering that went into that flight of locks, great history.

Is the bloke still selling cider outside the main gate

Looks like Devizes C &CC site at Melksham. We were there earlier this year, nice place. Actually were on that same pitch in the photo. Think it is on Fridays, there is a phone number for the local chippy and they deliver. Lots of it & not too bad. Nice walks, couldn't get into the 3 Magpies as fully booked. We had the toad as well, so lots of places to explore. Would be happy to go back again. (y)

Went there last year, good site and really enjoyed the locks.

We cycled with young children down the canal path to the Barge pub and had lunch and then quite a few beers.

Unfortunately it was winter and bad parents that we were, we had no lights on our bikes for the way home:oops:

We made it back to the site, but even drunk I was stressed.

I think my daughter was about 5 or 6.

Foxhangers is a little closer to Devizes. Any feedback on that campsite?

Last year the kevenhs had a Devizes campsite booked, walks planned AND a Wadworth Brewery tour trip lined up.
Then some sort of pandemic thing scuppered the whole thing.

Wadworth still haven’t restarted tours.
They do a multi Wadworth Public House tasting tour but that’s a tall order to drag mrskevenh on 😳. So “close but no cigar”.

Stayed at Foxhangers in September. Pitches are generously spaced across two fields. Ours had electric and water tap. Entrance is the same as the Marina. Our SatNav wanted us to turn 100m further on towards Devises where I presume the entrance used to be.
Report to the farmhouse, very nice laid back owner.
I used the showers, my wife didn’t. I don’t mind spiders, she does. The single shower/toilet block attached to the farmhouse is old but just about adequate. The larger block on the right is cleaner.
Entrance to the K&A Canal through a path on the left of the farmyard behind the large shed. Marina to the left, Caen Hill locks to the right.
I liked the site but then I am easy to please. My mantra is Location, location, location, and this fits the bill.

We walked back along the towpath from the Barge Inn in the dark, it was Bat alley you could feel the draft on your face as they flew past, swmbo was not happy.

Been there many times, even on the corner pitch once or twice. Always (although they change) friendly, helpful wardens.) Will be back again as Devizes is a lovely town and I like to walk the towpath in and then Hil drives in and joins me for lunch in a little cafe who's name I forget but it is opposite Nationwide. Good memories of many visits with several different units.

We caught the bus into the Devizes (they drive like rally drivers ) and walked back - down hill for about 4 miles

We have also found ourselves parked next to another Funster who has traveled all the way up from southern Spain to give their new van a run. That’s some test drive!

And a very nice drive it was too, although the poor van is not used to such inclement weather 😜 off to Dibles Park, Warsash next but another shout out for this site at Devizes, very nice and the wardens extremely helpful

Dibles Park at the back end of November! I'd opt for Parc Alfons XIII at this time of the year although soft sand probably isn't good idea for a moho.;)

Your not wrong, but have to say this trip is certainly testing the ALDE heating system, and so far a massive thumbs up from me

We've often stopped overnight in the canal car park (otherside) and paid for the pleasure at the canal side cafe. I assume that is still allowed?

Think you might be correct, to embarrassed to confirm as my van is filthy after driving down😁😁

What pitch are you on?
my van dirtier than yours. But it smells nice as a bottle of pink smell toilet flush fluid got too close to the Trauma and split.

I’m on 74

It's getting crowded here 😁😁 Good walk into Devizes along the canal this afternoon.
We are off to Bath on the bus in the morning so will see if your about later, here until Monday.

We found it’s best to catch the bus to Devizes and walk back down, that climb up hill is a killer😁😁
