We crossed the channel by the tunnel late Sunday afternoon, and are now on an aire in Royan between Bordeaux and La Rocchelle!
The weather forcast for the next few days is good, so fingers crossed I will be able to put some good pics on here in next few day!
We only have a week,so this will be our last chance of some sun before the
long winter ahead!

Good timing, it's been very damp in Brittany for the past day or so but should be dry from today onwards.

Small nit-pick: That isn't the aire at Huelgoat, it's a car park, the aire is a bit further up the road out of town. Nice place.

Not been to Il D'Oleron but if it's better the Ille de Re then I wouldn't mind going.
We went to Re thus year and loved it.
Was nice looking at your photos and couldn't believe the good weather in October. Hope you had a great time.

Was better from the inside than out!:)

The church was rebuilt after the second world war after the Yanks and we Brits bombed Royan to hell, there was very little left standing and the church was rapidly rebuilt using the sand from the beaches hence the reason it now suffers badly from rebar rusting, large chunks keep falling off causing consternation to those below. Year before last at the Violins on the beach, free concert http://www.violonsurlesable.com/ The church organ played its part in the concert by "replying" to the music being played by the orchestra placed on the sands. When at the site in Royan, please, not too much noise, my good friend lives just over the road.

If visiting Ile de Re ensure you have your cycles with you it has a fantastic cycle track resource. Ile D'Oleron is different but still beautiful but don't forget to come a little further along to St George de Diddone where there are three parking sites, one of which directly opposite the 2km long super clean beach, as is Royan. Next down the coast is Mortagne sur Gironde where parking is right alongside the port with numerous restaurants to choose from. Mozzies can be rather a problem here sometimes. @GAVLAD October and November are my preferred months along with April,May and June still rather much warmer than Blighty and you bloody tourists are normally not too numerous.:LOL:.
