Hi all, back as a funster again after a spell as a tugger, it was worth a try but we are now back with a Hobby Van TL 500 and I am a happy bunny.
My question is does anybody know of a 2 din in dash GPS,Sat Nav, Radio with reverse camera input, and one you can programme with the vehicle size.
We have an Eclipse AVN 4429 fitted but I find the TomTom menu a pain, its a great radio cd/dvd player but for me the navigation aspect where I can programme size of the vehicle is more important. Any suggestions please.

I'd have a look at Kenwood systems, as far as I know they use Garmin sat-nag.

Ps: You could always sell your old double DIN system to partially fund your new purchase.

Thanks I will have a look, and yes if I can get an in dash solution I will sell the Eclipse AVN 4429. If not I may go for an Aguri as it has a built in dash cam, and keep the 4429.

Alpine have motorhome specific entertainment systems with a 9 inch screen which are great, although expensive. They include IGO next generation navigation and you can put your vehicles dimensions in so it keeps you away from low bridges etc.The one I have is the X902DU,but they have just released a new range for 2019/2020.

Many thanks for the info I will take a look at the Alpine

We have a Kenwood /Garmin in our new to us Hymer. You can enter the vehicle dimensions and weight. As I have only driven about 500 miles it is to early to comment about its accuracy. Ours has the camera input.

The screen is a bit on the small size to me as it is not the full width of the unit.

Cheapo Chinese and Sygic or IGO (or both). Most come with camera connections, bluetooth and wifi. Easy to attach a DAB box and canbus.

Thanks for your reply, it has a similar problem to the built in one I have, a tiny screen.
I am now looking at the Aguri with a 7" screen, it does mean more clutter on the dash but it does mean I can get rid of the dash cam, as the Aguri has one built in. Thanks again for your input.

We too have the Kenwood above. Used it for 3 1/2 years without snags. It doesn't seem too small to me, but there again, my navigator uses it more. I just use it for current speed and speed alerts. Navz looks at the screen.(y)

I have an Aguri 7" with a sun shade hood you could have at an attractive price. It has Camper Contact and Park4Night loaded too. Just pm if interested.

It looks as if I am going down the Aguri route, the 720 seems to fit the bill. How does it perform when keeping you from small roads and low bridges etc, and does it update quickly on junctions etc ie giving plenty of warning for the junction. Look forward to hearing from you.

Like all Sat Navs it has strong points an not so good points. It's OK by and large for avoiding such things, but if you miss an instruction, it can attempt to put you on smaller roads, trying to get you quickly back onto its preferred route. If you bear this in mind, you can choose for yourself how you get back to the preferred route, just don't follow it blindly. Another aspect of taking routes that exclude certain limitations is that it can occasionally take you on some seemingly longer routes when compared to a map. I don't think it grossly mislead us, though. Updating not too bad, basically it runs on Android as a Tablet, can take a bit longer to initialise in the first place of course depending how much you other stuff you have loaded on the unit. But that is one aspect of how useful it is, you can use other apps etc. It does give good warning of bends, obstructions etc. Quite useful and reassuring in that respect. You must use the supplied connectors/adapters because with the dash cam running as well, it takes more juice, so can run out of power if you use a lower power one. Important.

TomTom took me to a stupidly low bridge in a small town near Paris last week, there was no height barrier from the direction I took (again, a missed instruction), van is supposed to be 2.65m high, bridge said 2.5m (barrier on the other side, but I couldn't see that!). Couldn't go back, traffic behind. Drove up to the bridge, stood on the step and judged I could make it. I did! Needed a stiff drink when we got to our destination aires. Especially after I read the height on the other side! No way I would have tried it if I had seen it. But it does make a case for using one with height, width and length Sat Navs.

You could buy my Aguri at a good SH price, try it and find out.

Thanks for the offer on the Aguri, since our last chat I have bought one. But many thanks for the input.
Happy travelling.

Pioneer Avic Z810 DAB-C
It’s a cracking piece of kit, it’s my third Pioneer, did try a Kenwood but couldn’t get on with Garmin

Hi Rob thanks for your reply, can the Pioneer be programmed with the vehicle size and weight to stop you turning down unsuitably small or restricted roads.

This one caught my eye at the show it's an 8" screen that just uses one of the din sockets for the 'guts' of it and the screen sits proud. It has all the usual stuff, reversing camera etc but also has Appleplay or Android so you can use google maps, Waze sat nav and play all your phone music trough it. Only problem it's a bob or two!

Yes you can, and it’s pre loaded with campsites and Via Michelin etc
