I am due to pick up my new (to me) 2006 Geist MH next week, and wondered if anyone can confirm that the 2006 2Ltr Fiat has an immobiliser which works via a chip in the key, as the dealer says it does?

Hi, my 2006 Hobby 2.3 JTD has the immobiliser key.... I'm pretty certain that they all do.

Good luck with your new van::bigsmile:

Do they still come with a master key or card
He should remember to ask for such things to be handed over if available:thumb:

They should come with two keys, and a RED master key. Without the master, you can't have a key re-cut. The master contains the coding info which is needed to re-code a new key.

I had a Thatcham approved immobiliser and zone alarm fitted which does away with the need for the original code keys - it has a digital keypad mounted onto the bottom of the windscreen which you can use if a key is lost, and it allow you to change the code if a key is lost or stolen.

Just checked and the red key is for older vehicles, not seen or heard of a yellow one also the security code card is not issued with UK vehicles

Our is a 2006 Fiat 2.8 ltr jtd?
It has the flick keys .
The immobilizer is a separate fob.
As said before you don't have the red master key anymore.
We insisted on having one , at the hand over , as we'd been advised :winky: not to leave without one.
We felt a bit silly when the dealer said "do you go on forums by any chance ?"
:roflmto:

So are we saying that if it just has the 'flip' keys (which it has), without an immobiliser 'fob', then there is no immobiliser fitted?

All fiats and most other cars for that matter since mid 90s have immos, most are passive so do not require arming by remote (they do it automatically) your perticular van has an of the shelf key, in other words you can have a key cut and programed by anyone with the correct gear.(immo code required). hope this helps:thumb:
