MH
Hymer Tramp
Exp
Since 1994
Like most older vans ours needs a few updates...
The latest fitting to be replaced is the 40cm x 40cm unpowered roofvent..
I would like to upgrade to one that has a 12v fan....
My question is what would you fit and why, I could run a 12v feed without two much of a problem....Flat roof, Hymer thickness of insulation.....

Martin, in this MH we have inherited a Maxair/Fantastic Vent type fan, which gets more use than the roof air con ever did in the Hymer.
We use this one to draw the warm air out of the MH, and reverse it at night, (when needed), to draw cooler air into the MH.

It's a godsend TBH. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Maxxfan definitely. I had a Fiamma version and the flyscreen was next to impossible to clean, good when it worked but much of the time was clogged with tree seeds and insects.

Fantastic fan , older ones were bombproof , not so certain on the newer ones , with maxxair fans it may pay to clear coat the circuit boards as there has been a few reports of water damage due condensation/damp .

Another vote for Maxxfan - I replaced the aircon unit we hardly ever used, a straight swap job, and the Maxxfan is used all the time. As it's in the kitchen area it makes a good extractor too - the smoke alarm has never gone off due to my cooking since........................

I fitted the maxxfan. Drop in replacement, auto operation if required can be left open when travelling and as air can enter or leave from underneath it isn't necessary tobe shut when raining.
Have you had any issues with yours not working correctly? I fitted mine at the weekend but when it powers up it just constantly beeps and no controls work.

I recently removed and re sealed a roof fan in my Hymer and that has the wires running in a trunking inside the roof insulation which looks like it was pre fitted.
This is on a 2001 B584 and roof vent in question was behind the main roof vent, so you may find it already has trunking installed

I have had Fantastic vents in the last two vans, they work a treat but if I was buying one now I think it would be the Maxxfan.
