no disrespect but what sort of entertainment were you looking for?

Plenty of things to see and do in and near Ilfracombe.
The hills are what makes it very appealing.

Lovely walks, beaches,surfing,pubs,clubs,theatres,restaurants

Just as a matter of interest what didn't it have that you were looking for.
This is lesleyjean posting on alans tablet

We stayed at Wildmans for 3 weeks, loved Ilfracombe and all round north Devon. :thumb:

We are unable to attend, but we had the negative posts on the shows, one being Stratford and never a good show, but some of the best meets we had, and most probably the only show / meet we will be able to attend this year and really looking forward to it.

I don't think anyone is interested in why nobody is not attending, :winky: more interested in who's going. :thumb: Bob.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the area, within a 10 mile radius there are 3 national trust properties, 8 grade A beaches some with internationationally recognition as supurb surfing beaches, horse riding, quad biking, clay shooting, amazing cliff walks, golf course and and golf driving range, 2 cinemas, 2 theatres, pubs, clubs, and hotels have live entertainment most nights, superb fishing, boat trips (including a trip to Lundy Island), 2 museums. Eateries to suit all taste, vegetarian, Chinese, Indian, Thai, chip shops etc. A sculpture garden, a number of other large gardens, 2 zoos, tennis courts, swimming pool and trout fishing lakes, scateboard park, Cider farm and lots of other things to suit all taste. A number of those people coming came last year as well including one couple from York so not even locals they must have enjoyed the area.
I am really not sure why you made such a negative uninformed post, have we in North Devon offended you in some way?

we went to illfracombe a few years ago myself and sue didnt like it one bit we vowed we would never go there again. its an horrible place full of hills with no entertainment so count us out on this one:Angry:

Well ..I flew to Devon, didn't have a motorhome, walked around (nearly made Lesley and Alan my hosts wait for the evening meal ... gosh what a run to come back in time:roflmto:) and I have LOVED every single thing I saw there. And this includes people, scenery, shops, Ilfracombe port with all its boats, rocks battered with the sea, lovely houses , schools around and what a view when you're up the hill!!!!

I suspect that for some reason only you know, you're trying to put people off!!
If you didn't like it ok, fair enough, but no one asked or even obliged you to go back there, so please avoid so negative post like this one.

:Smile:When I went Peter Hobo, Carolyn and I had a lovely day out in a local town where we had coffee and sat in the sunshine watching the world go by. (photo one) and another day we all walked to a local pub and had a lovely meal in the garden. Pete also walked to Ilfracombe beach and my little dog loved walking round the fields...

I remember that the Normanton area isn't exactly rivetting, stuck near power stations and chemical works... As others have said, the Ilfracombe area is very pleasant and has lots to offer - Woollacombe Bay is one of THE great UK bays. 'Horrible' is a bit of a wild statement, and I feel a bit insulting to the Funsters who live there and are hosting this meet.

1 year on and loving it!
The interior of the FFB is looking very sad at the moment Jim - someone covered the walls in wood-like plastic/vinyl/stick on plastic stuff and the wood couldn't breathe!

Have had to pull it all off and will replace the damaged wood etc. over the summer as and when my son is around to do it. Found water behind it from condensation. It's dry now, but looking very sorry for itself. Still usable though! just not pretty ::bigsmile:
