enough to know i shouldnt touch things i know nothing about ....
We're currently in Le Sables D'Olonne and travelling to Il de Re tomorrow. Can anyone recommend any free AND allowable overnight park ups please, free is always good .... Lol.

The Aire we are on Le Plage at Le Sables, is free up until 31st March !!!

Never stayed here before so will do a review tomorrow !

I’ve seen people park up across from camping Bel air in la Flotte in season & on spare land at the side of L’eclerc in st Martin just need to check it’s not too muddy. There are plenty of places that look ok to me but never tried them.

Park4night shows plenty to explore. When we we’re there there was a big car park out side the municipal campsite in Portes de Re and another by the tennis courts- but I’d be exploring some of park 4 night suggestions first for for scenic options!

The aire at St Marie is handy for town. There's an aire at le Bois too. Both charge about 10 euros. Beautiful island but not known for its free spots.

Oops I meant st Martin not St Marie...

We have checked park4night but virtually every free park up has height restrictions or no overnighting. I don't mind paying but I'd rather not IF we don't have to. I find that some paid for park ups are nothing more than large concrete car parks, with no view.
Similar to the one we are currently on at La Sables.....

We are on the Le Remondean campsite, (municipal) at La Couarde Sur Mer at the moment. Not expensive. Very clean and on the beach.
Ille de Re does have quite a few restrictions re wild camping. Have fun.

Sounds good, price please? Co-0rdinates or is it easy enough to find? Got a small task to do in the morning (getting a data SIM from Free)

Does it have electric hook up included, thanks for responding.

Ille de Re is a great visit but not cheap. Not much chance of FLT on the island. Very jealous though. Oysters and cold bottle of wine. Lasting memories.

CamperContact show 2 free aires, both on the north coast. Parking sur Mar at Loix and Parking la Flotte at La Flotte.

Theres a FP site North of La Rochelle Ostrich Farm, ideal for cheapskates. Review below

12 kms on the flat on a pushbike but the bridge might take it out of you as it was quite steep if I remember rightly (motorbike though)

Apologies MisterB, been on the road today. We stayed 4 nights and it was about 90 euros including taxes and elec. Easy to find, and one of only two open at moment on Ille de Re.

No problems, we're actually there now. As you said easy enough to find and €46 for two nights for two people Inc EHU and WiFi. WiFi is good enough for streaming TV aswell, which is always a bonus even though we do have an auto sat dish !

Ha! would be for lightweights!

We went over loaded up with camping gear on our trip up from Spain following La Velodyssee up to Roscoff.

We spent 5 very enjoyable days based at La Flotte and ranged over the whole island - really enjoyed the far end, and oysters, and chilled dry ehite wine, and …… :giggle:

We're not looking for free parking. We are stopping at La Grainetiere for a week. I prefer the relative safety of sites. I am, however, looking for motorbike hire for a few days so I can explore the island fully. Any suggestions would be more than welcome.

Not used them myself but they have good reviews. Only one listed on island. Apologies for double posting, I’m on my iPad

Thank you for taking the time to get back to me. I'll look at this later and check out availability/prices etc.

Do you know which other site is open at the moment please? We may stay a bit longer.

I stayed at the municipal campsite at St Martin a week and a half ago, water and electric on each pitch, or there is an aire next door which is cheaper, no view but very convenient for the town, if you have bikes with you there are some nice scenic places to visit.
If you like seafood i can recommend Le Tout du cru, just set back from the quay, look for where it says cinema, not cheap though.

MisterB. We have moved on now to Montalivet but I think it was a small site of only 6 pitches. More sites will open on April 1st.
If you want to do the Atlantic Montalivet coast, take ferry from Royan, 34euros for a m/h. Saves going all way to Bordeaux and back up.🙂

We stayed at Ille D'Oleron and drove over and parked for free in the big car park overlooking the bridge. Off-loaded the tandem and over the bridge and a lovely day on the island.
