Igniter won’t stop trying to light.

Away with a friend but he has no internet signal. Electrolux 3 way fridge old type manual power selection and igniter keeps sparking even when flame is lit. We have had the back off and the jet assembly out and sparking and lighting perfectly and fridge will carry on running with a good flame if we switch the igniter off but not sure if the gas supply will be cut off if it goes out. Any ideas?

Ours does that occasionally, I just turn sparker switch off and make sure I keep a check that the flame is still on.

The ignitor obviously has some kind of thermal link as it will/should stop trying to ignite once lit.
Probably same thing as (or even part of) the thermocouple for the flame... Flame goes out thermocouple shuts off gas.
In this instance, flame goes out, igniter kicks in
