Complete newby to this, towing a Smart Car.
If anybody does an idiots guide PLEASE add this to prevent dunderheads like me doing a repeat of this.
Picture the scene a trialer built like a brick outhouse, jumped up and down on it, incredibly heavy to move. Really sturdy with the jockey wheel down
So decided to drive the Smart on WITHOUT BEING ATTACHED TO MH!
WHATAMISTAKATOMAKA
Wished I'd captured it on camera. Gently eased Car onto ramps and guess what happened" yes you guessed it jockey wheel end shot up and and ramp end went down. Smashing one light cluster and cracking another on the trailer.
RULE NUMBER 1 ONLY LOAD AND UNLOAD WHILST ATTACHED TO MH!
Maybe others would like to add other "rules" to the idiots guide!
RULE NUMBER 2 HOW TO ATTACH THE CAR SO IT NEVER MOVES AT ALL!!!!....??????????????????????

Hi
just to make you feel less stupid i must tell you of just one of my cock ups---
picture the scene----I have used a stock car to jump start an old Ford diesel truck, then back the truck up to a loading ramp, so far so good, no hand brake on anything which was quite normal, drive the stock car onto truck, half way on and truck decides to move forward, ------to stop one end of my car dropping onto the ground I put the brakes on, this did stop the truck, but I had to sit and wait until Pamala decided to find out what was taking so long before she could back the truck to the ramp and rescue me.
I used wheel chocks (rocks) after that!!
