Got 3 weeks available, so definately doing a wine run to France and Belgium , also going to book for the site at Ypres for a few days. Where else is worth going at this time of year , dont mind going down as far as brittany. We will be doing some aires but slso Looking for sites possibly municipal or decent private run sites.

Were supposed to be going to Spain and Portugal for 10 weeks but this is delayed till early next year as daughter is moving home.

If your planning to go to Belgium why not drive down through the Ardennes Forest to Bastogne and see the all the memorials and museums to the 101st Airborne portrayed in Band of Brothers. We went in July it was something I always wanted to do and was well worth the trip

Don't know if you're into the Bargain Hunt/Flea Market thing, but this is my favourite Belgian event, every Sunday, starting early:

Plus you've got the Battle of Waterloo museums and battlefield nearby.

For Ypres, try The Cloth Hall, the Menin Gate memorial service (nightly), and a trip up the road to the Tyne Cot commonwealth war cemetery.

If military stuff is of interest you could see if La Coupole (V2 launch bunker) is open - it's not far from Calais.

Would just point out, though, that it'll be dark by 3.30pm so whatever you do you'll need to plan accordingly. Also most campsites are closed for the winter by now. Aires are still usually available but you may find the water turned off.

I would revert to plan A and go to Spain and Portugal, far more fun.

Be aware that aire water, in France, may be turned off due to prospect of frost damage. As we found out to our cost first ever trip abroad (January)

And according to my ACSI book it seems that most sites in France are closed at that time of year.

You will be lucky to find any sites open this time of year. Aires are OK, but water may be turned off. With the long dark nights and few Aires with EHU you need to think carefully about how you are going to manage electrically. Even gas central heating still needs 12V to work.

If it was me I would get south of the Loire should be a bit warmer. Forget about sites very few will be open this time of year, a lot close at the end of August the rest at the end of September.

Think you may have the times wrong, sunset today in France is 17:15 and 16:56 at the end of the month. We get an hour more daylight here in the evenings than the UK.

We are driving down to Bordeaux in a week or so, lots of good wine to be had there.
Not so easy to get water though so take plenty and use it sparingly.
Cemeteries usually have taps that you could try if you are desperate. We have parked in village Aires in the past and as long as it’s not freezing, we have asked local Marie’s if they could turn the water on for us.

Huge bottles of water from supermarkets are cheap enough to invest in and pour into your tank in the absence of a functional tap.

Well used to going out in winter. 320 w of solar which will give a bit of charge . Plus we have an extra 80 litres of water in bottles.

You should have no problems with power, as long as you don’t watch tv all evening!
We managed a month long trip over Christmas last year with 120watt panel and one 110ah battery. We had a genny with us just in case, but didn’t use it, and had EHU for 2 nights only.

Yes you're quite right - I've never really got the hang of this messing about with clocks, then of course another hour change. Got it the wrong way round! Duh!
