After watching the reanactment of the Lombard Rally this weekend. She loved the Mini Classic Rally car. So as she liked so much I said I would buy her one for (anything to get into her good books) Christmas!! What I am looking for is a small scale model of one of these cars.

Where is the best place to get one?

Went to Silverstone in 2007 for the Mini 50th anniversary, with our new Mini Cooper S, not the same as the classic one, but a hellover lot safer, and faster at 200bhp.

They've ruined the new one now, they're bloody ginormous. There was speak of making a smaller one called MINI Rocketman but it was dropped.

If you don't want your future weekends buggered don't get her a mini. I had a Cooper S back in 1970. In those days everyone would be out in the street on Sunday morning polishing their cars. I would be out there with my tool kit putting it back together again. Worst car I ever owned. Great when it was working OK. During the time I had it I went through three engines, several water pumps and dynamo's, CVJ joints, rear subframe. Door hinges, Welding things like the battery housing box. Timing chains, etc etc etc.

I think I got down to changing a complete mini engine to two days Off and on. Apparently the mini is the demise of the Allegro as some allaggro engines will fit in a mini fairly easily.
