I have what appears to be a white sparrow in my garden. I am poised with my phone to try and get a photo. So exciting!

Has anyone else seen one?

Bird experts are stunned after very rare WHITE sparrow is spotted

Barry Hitchens had been visiting the Lost Garden of Heligan in St Austell, Cornwall, when he spotted the white-feathered bird and called a team of experts who identified it as a leucistic white sparrow.

There have been many generations of all white or mainly white blackbirds during the 40 years I've lived in my village.

Yeah we to have white or part white blackbirds but never seen a white sparrow

I have had blackbirds with flashes of white on their wings but never a predominantly white one.

I don't know about sparrows, but I understand that in the crow family they will often attack and kill a bird that doesn't conform, probably an inbuilt system to do with ensuring that genetic anomalies get eradicated from the gene pool, just as well we never see this sort of behaviour in humans.
