I Have A Butane Bottle Fetish (1 Viewer)

About 2 years ago I became a fan of those little camping cookers that have the little butane bottles.

Anyway I cant seem to stop buying the bottles.

They are everywhere. In the garage at home I have about 30 and they are scattered around the van as well. Almost every cupboard you open has a little bottle in it.
Its become a bit of a standing joke with my wife and the kids.

Anyone else suffer from this?

As long as they are used sensibly and with the correct cooking equipment they are ok. I understand that if they are used with an oversized pan etc that the heat can be deflected down to the gas canister and there have been instances where they have blown up/caught fire.
As with most portable appliances they have to be used sensibly​

Have two self contained ministoves and have used them successfully for years mostly on low flame with a skillet ideal for cooking outside the van or kettle for picnics out in the car , no problems bottles 4 for £3.99 (B&M)
As for the Aussies banning them ,don't they do that for most things ?

We often use one to cook outside the van - including heating water for an early morning brew (when the rest of the family are still sleeping) or cooking supper on the beach. Also good to know that we have a backup in case the main gas supply runs out.

I light my woodburning stove with one it is very quick. The Ausies banned them after some stove with big pans on them overheated the containers and melted the solder causing explosion, OK if you do not use frying pans or the like
