Just recently sold my lovely 1996 s520 as it was rhd and we have bought a place in France… Brexit...etc...etc...

Anyway what do you have that is LHD, maybe auto (my preference is MB) and clean. We would like the moon on a stick plus;

Rear lounge
Separate shower
Underslung or refillable lpg
French registered is fine

A bag of cash waiting for the right one.

We are in the North west of the UK or the North west of France (22800) if you're there.

Bag of cash - up to £15k budget?
I’ll be interested to see what’s out there for that price

I viewed an s700, rear garage which was a compromise, sadly it was a little too worn around the edges but not too unrealistically priced at £18k for a 96-97 model. I did notice that the plastics had aged badly compared to my last s520 of a similar vintage. Shame really and nice people too, we have decided to hang onto our money until next winter and focus on doing the french house up. Then late nov early dec 2020 we can combine a week in Germany surfing mobile.de and visiting the Christmas markets which will also then give us a budget of 25k euro or so.

I've seen a good looking Hymer B654 for sale on FB £14500. Hasn't got a rear lounge but looks very tidy. You probably wont be able to access the link because you have to join the group

Thanks for that, yes I am a member of both of the Hymer groups. I just can't feel the love for that shape strangely I can't put my finger on it but I just prefer the later face or the prior.

Thank you though.

We wanted a Hymer with a rear lounge with a similar budget. After we'd seen one though, we changed our minds! In order to get a vaguely useful garage the rear seats had to be quite high, which meant banging ones head on the rear lockers when sat back there. We also wanted the garage space, so ended up with a Hymer E700 with a fixed rear bed.

Our previous MH was a Hymer Camp 64 with rear lounge. We loved this seating area, and didn't mind making the bed up each night, but the garage was nigh on useless!

This the shape I am not a fan of, irrational I know.

I had one of these in the past and thought they were nice looking if not a bit dark inside unless you found a late one

But prefer the 4 headlights shape up to about 2006 when they facelifted again and made the bumpers look odd to my eye at the front.

And I particularly like this engine and box combo too, not amazing MPGs but smooth and a proper box with not electronics.

Many mid-90s Hymers with big skylights. They let loads of light in.

Our E700 is the same era as the Merc pic you posted. Engine is just before it went electronic, nice and bright inside, and still well built.

very nice, I may be tempted by a b634 too but I think no separate shower?

You need a long bus for a separate shower. Worth it, though, we love the shower in ours.

Have a look here for different layouts...

my dinky 520 had a separate shower and under 6m too. thanks for the link.
