Hi All

I have a 2009 Mercedes based Hymer B675sl. It has a wiper fault. The wipers start when the ignition key is turned on, even though the wipers are turned off. The intermittent wipe does not work, it works continuously instead. Also, the wipers stop anywhere on the screen. They do about eight sweeps then stop where ever.

I have had a problem before with them stopping in the wrong place. I cured this by cleaning the track and it’s contact inside the motor. I have redone this but the problem is the same.

There are two identical relays in the left side mercedes fuse box that control stages one and two. I swopped these but again the fault remains.

I fitted a new control switch on the steering column, no difference.

Several forums remark on a Shaudt relay fitted to handle higher currents drawn by the three wiper set up.

I can’t find this in the engine bay or the two fuse boxes. Anyone know where they are fitted?

Thanks

Bump - can anyone advise?

Update.
On stripping the wiper motor again, I found a copper brush contact broken from its mounting pin. Resoldered, sorted.
Thankfully it was broke as previously it must have been fixed in place but without continuity from a dry solder joint.
I am not sure how I would have found the fault had the brush not broke off, I was contemplating replacing components as I had started to do with with the switch but I got lucky.
